Expansions List Sun, 26 September 2010 05:44
I have put together a list of Memoir 44 expansions. The list has an overview of what each expansion adds to the game along with lists of terrain and rules additions in that expansion. This should be a help for new players wanting information to choose which expansion to get first or next. The only expansion not listed is the campaign bag since it adds no terrain or rules. The breakthrough map is listed with the breakthrough kit. I hope this helps people trying to figure out which expansion they want or what rules come with what expansion. I hope this helps, and that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. It is available on my user page and will be available soon on BGG.

Thanks for your work on this porject, Ron! That will be a very helpful document that we can all point new players to. Cool

If anyone else wants to create a more narative review of the expansions, I'm sure that new players would be happy to have multiple resources to help them decide what expansions to buy and in which order to get them. Very Happy

I'm always so impressed with how helpful this community is and 50th has just created more proof of this fact. Thanks again! Smile

50th that is a really useful document, but if it was me I would have included the campaign bag.

I love the bag and although the map is duplicated in the breakthrough kit I just bought it for the bag.

I appreciate what you say about it not adding terrain or rules, but it is still a part that is available for the game and new players may like to know about it. I know I did.

Just my opinion and you may or may not agree. Smile

Good job though.

The expansion list has been revised by adding expansions needed for the breakthrough scenarios, and by correcting a spelling error. (sorry vulch, but I still didn't add the campaign bag, maybe because it's the only expansion I don't own, or, well it's just a bag!)

I have to agree with Vulch on this one...it makes sense to include all of the expansions, even if you personally don't care about it. Each player likes different things and someone might really want to have that one on the list. We have to be completely inpartial. Smile

The other thing you might want to list is which expansions are needed to play the Campaign Book. Also, you could note which expansions are used in the Air Pack scenarios... Very Happy

There is a really good post on Boardgamegeek.com that lists the expansions needed in the Campaign book.

I also agree everything needs to be in the list. I think the Campaign bag is a really useful thing to have when I bring my Memoir stuff along. But it's getting small with the new expansion.

Ok, I give up! When I get my Winter Wars expansion, I will update the list (again) and add the bag.

New expansion list contains Equipment Pack and list of EP scenarios with lists of required expansions for scenarios. It can be downloaded here:

Feedback is helpful!

Re:Expansions List Sun, 09 September 2012 03:21
I have a question after a long absence from the game. I'm trying to get caught up on all the product releases but any of them say something to the effect of "Operation Overlord pack required for many scenarios".

The problem is that I'm having a lot of difficulty tracking down certain expansion; Operation Overlord is one example. This sites own webstore says it's out of print. It's hard to pull the trigger on buying a new expansion when I can't even buy a, even partially needed, older expansion. Now I'm worried about buying anything because I don't know if it's going to require something that I can no longer get.

I've been out of the loop for years and it isn't always so easy to track down years worth of development information. I'm feeling a little lost right now. Any help would be appreciated.

Re:Expansions List Sun, 09 September 2012 03:33
That's where this expansion list comes in! It shows the expansions necessary to play scenarios listed in expansions like the new Equipment Pack. The expansions (except maybe battle maps) do not require the Operation Overlord expansion. The battle maps require either the base game and OO or two base games. The overlord scenarios in the list that require two base games will be marked as such. The scenarios listed in expansions did not require other expansions until the breakthrough kit came out. If you have a theater of WWII that you enjoy playing or reading about, I would go with that one first. My first was the Pacific Theater, as I was reading about Iwo Jima at that time.
