National Candy Day Tournament Wed, 27 October 2010 06:37
IN celebration of National Candy Day in the USA,
I am organizing a SWEET Quick Tournament (QT) for November 4th at 10:30pm Eastern USA time zone.
(that is 0330 CEST on Nov. 5, so my apologies to my European friends for the time zone thing, but that time on Thursday is my preferred time, and there is Heroes & Captains that week in EU preferred times.)

This QT will be a Two-player, a double elimination tourney.
(double elimination usually takes 2 hours to complete.)
It will be limited to 16 players. Each player choosing to be in QT will be assigned a letter A through P, Which explains what game they play in which round. The game will be followed along format I will post here that night.

Let me know of your interest in this SWEET QT... Winner could have me send them a candy bar if I can make the arrangements.

Knock is right. It will be 3h30am CET due to winter time change.

@Knock : This QT is meant first for AMerican players as they scarcely (not to say never) have tourneys at American nights Smile.

Thank you Knock & Sysy for the note on the time change factor.
In USA, time change occurs on Nov. 6th.

And I somewhat apologize for the time factor to Europeans. I do organize QTs throughout the year, but please understand that I need to offer them when it is best for my schedule and other American players.

When NC is over, I surely hope to plan a MULTI Quick tournament using a format I developed. I can try to put that on a day when I will take an afternoon off from work, so it can be played during good European hours.

No problem with your tounament, i didn't want to criticize, sorry if you understood like that...
I only wanted to say that we change hour this week-end...
I understand that it can't be always best hours for everybody around the world ! And I won't criticize someone taking time to organise something.

Well, the tournament is today/tonight. 10:30pm Eastern USA time zone
It will only run if we get at least 8 players.

16 player Quick Tournament double elimination
Done in about 90 minutes. (less if you lose twice early)

First round
A plays B
C _plays D
E plays F
G plays H
I plays J
K plays L
M plays N
O plays P

Second round
Winner of A-B plays winner of C-D (loser goes to game T)
Winner of E-F plays winner of G-H (loser goes to game S)
Winner of I-J plays winner of K-L (loser goes to game R)
Winner of M-N plays winner of O-P (loser goes to game Q)

Round 3
Winner of A-B-C-D plays winner of E-F-G-H (loser goes to game )
Winner of I-J- K-L plays winner of M-N-O-P (loser goes to game )

Round 4
Winners of round 3 play each other. (loser goes to game W)
(winner waits for loser bracket)

Loser of A-B plays Loser of C-D; winner plays in game Q
Loser of E-F plays loser of G-H; winner plays in game R
Loser of I-J plays loser of K-L; winner plays in game S
Loser of E-F plays loser of G-H; l winner plays in game T


Loser bracket Third match
Game Q winner of above plays second round loser M-N-O-P
Game R winner of above plays second round loser I-J- K-L
Game S winner of above plays second round loser E-F-G-H
Game T winner of above plays second round loser of A-B-C-D

Loser bracket Fourth match
Game U Winner Game Q plays Winner of game R
Game V Winner Game S plays Winner of game T


Loser bracket Fifth match
Game W: Winner Game U plays from loser from winners bracket game A-B-C-D E-F-G-H loser
Game X: Winner of game V plays from loser from winners bracket I-J-K-L-M-N-O_P loser

Loser bracket Sixth match
Game Y: Winner of Game W plays winner of game X

Game Z: is between game Y winner and loser of winner bracket last round

This then sets up winner of loser bracket who plays champ of winners bracket.
(repeat if winner bracket person loses).
