Cutting Wire Fri, 19 November 2010 17:53
Has anyone had luck cutting wire in a game Against "Johnny"?

If I am not mistaken, the rule is that infantry can choose to cut the wire instead of battle. So I attempt this and while in the process the game automatically switches over to "Johnny's" turn before I get a chance to cut.

The wire cutter icons appear and everything, I just do not get a chance to cut...

Is this a bug?

I thought it was just me.

When the cutters are showing I tried clicking on myself to cut the wire I am on, but it just seemed to ignore this.

I haven't managed to cut any wire yet.

Nothing in the manual about it either.

Yep, I am going to have to assume that it is an error.

I have lost 2 games trying to cut the wire over and over again. Confused

But, I am just that stubborn. Very Happy

Still having a lot of fun.

Could someone from the crew confirm this is a bug or that I am going about it the wrong way. Thanks!

I have found that if you double-click on the blinking wire figure, the wire will be removed.

This has always worked for me and I have been playing since the original release of the BETA software.

Yes that is true, that does work... If it is not your last battle move before "Johnny" takes his turn.

Personally I think the auto "turn-over" should be removed. It would solve this problem and who cares of you have to press "end battle" when you are done.

Sure would be nice to know one has to blink wire to remove it. Kinda of a pain to do sometimes, namely like some folks have said if it is the last figure to "attack" and then goes to the next player.

Since there is a pop up for gain ground and all that, maybe a pop to verify one wishes to remove wire.

When I was playing with a DoW staff member he said that DoW will be working on the Wire issues. I imagine you'll still have to double click on the hex, but hopefully it will give you more time or something.

The problem comes when the hex to cut wire in is the last one to do battle.

The AI doesnt seem to recognise cutting wire as a legitimate move and ends the turn before you get chance to do it yourself.

Yes, I know and so do they. We ran into the exact same problem while we were playing! This is why it's called the Beta, so everyone can help catch problems like this. Very Happy Keep up the great work on testing.

You have to double-click on your own unit to remove the wire. It's the only way.

We understand that, Yann. Smile

We are saying that if cutting wire is your last combat move then, because the game automatically switches over to the next player turn, you will not be able to cut the wire in time before the game hands the turn over.

However, if cutting the wire is not the last battle move for you then "double-clicking" works just fine because the system is not trying to hand the turn over to the other player.

I have gotten around this by making sure it is not my last battle move for that turn, but if I can only command 1 unit for the turn, I will not be able to cut the wire. Confused

That is why I suggested to disable the "auto" handing the turn over feature. Very Happy

We won't disable the Auto-commit on the battle (trust us, it was that way a long time ago and it is NOT a pleasant thing). But what we will do is fix this bug, when we can.
