Moving up the Ranks!

Attention Officers!
Officer Ranks have now been published on the Memoir '44 Online Web site. Simply click on the "Officer Ranks" in the home page, or click directly on the Officer ranks page.
This will show you all the Officer Ranks and their correspondence between different nationalities. If you are logged in using your DOW Online account, the table will also highlight your rank in this table.
A second table below sheds further light on the prerequisites to progress from one Officer Rank to the next. A lot of this information is still classified and only hinted at; discussing - and playing - with fellow players might prove helpful to figure out the specifics of each rank.
Stay tuned on this frequency for additional updates.
Enjoy,
The Memoir '44 High Command at Days of Wonder Headquarters

I'm sorry but the promotion conditions raise more questions than they answer. The only real information is
- variety of opponents which would imply having to play both axis and allies
- well over a dozen victories, which is not even a solid number
I'd really appreciate knowing where to go, it motivates me to know what I need to do to finish a rank, I tend to play all day long to meet requisites, but only if the goal is clear-cut.

This vague information is intentional, so you have an idea in what directions you should explore the game further. As the first post invites to speculate here are my thoughts on that.
| Quote: |
1LT
Your victories as Allied Commander-in-Chief are becoming well known. Equally important is your newfound knowledge of the enemy's maneuvers.
|
- so my guess would be you need x wins on both side. Perhaps the First Lieutnants can elaborate how they earned their ranks. (6 wins / 3wins perhaps)
| Quote: |
CPT Captain
By now you're beginning to think you've seen it all. Knowledge of the enemy's tactics come close to being second nature for you.
Your superb tactics and growing sense of command have also helped win the day in a battle where many others failed before you.
|
- First sentence seems to imply that you should have played every battle (perhaps on both sides). Probably more wins. And one win in an underdog battle (perhaps the omaha ribbon ? ( 9 wins / 9 wins ?)
| Quote: |
MAJ Major
Word at HQ is that you've scored well over a dozen victories against a variety of opponents. This certainly seems to be true, judging from the ribbons and awards you collected!
|
First part could mean different opponents ( so you can't create a puppy acc) OR different enemies (russia, japan) then no MAJ in the beta.
Second part could refer to a mininum number of medals and awards. (15/15?)

Just on the way out the door and haven't look, but sure hope the variety of languages for each rank is there, to make sure there are no misspellings and all that. Been meaning to ask that item but been busy with Turkey day and all!!

I got promoted to Starshi Lejtenant this morning, after winning Toulon as Allies - I've now won 4 scenarios as each side. That seems like the most obvious requirement. But there could be lots of other things. In terms of number of scenarios played, or number of "outperformed"s my allied record was already at least as good as my axis one.
Does this tally with anoyne else's experiences?

I got promoted to the same rank as soon as I had equal number of allied and axis wins. In my case it was 5:5. I have long had 5 axis wins and then started playing a lot on the allied side. My Oberleutnant rank popped as soon as I got to 5 wins on the Allied side as well.

I put this to the test and looked for some allied wins to follow my axis wins. Got my promotion at 19 games after my 5th allied win.

Maybe it has something to do with ingot purchase. That was my 2nd game after purchasing some ingots. Those 2 games were played with all elite units turned on.
If anyone out there got promoted to Captain with their first 100 ingots, feel free to post here and prove my theory wrong

Officer's rank is a good initiative.
But to be honnest, I'm wondering why I'm still a Lieutenant lol.
Tell me if I did something wrong.

Who knows, you might even get a badge for it.

Guess I'm going to be spending some time in Normandy and the Netherlands...
Thanks, Eric.

I just got promoted to Captain! I won First Assault Wave as Allies and after my next game, which was also a victory, I got promoted. Also - I have exactly 20 victories now with equal number of games played as Allies and Axis - 17. Overproduced in 13 of them each. Very proportionate statistics for me
I hope this helps

Looks like it's pretty much confirmed that rank of Captain is achieved after winning as underdog in First Assault or Arnhem, followed by another match. I just saw Phread get promoted to Captain after beating me in Omaha, followed by another game in Toulon.

Considering the effort required to become a Major (to which so far no one has been promoted on the battlefield), is there any reasonable chance of becoming a General during our lifetime? On the other hand, if it wouldn't be possible, why would the ranks go up to Field Marshal?

Sorry about my question, but I just would like to know, what are the game conditions to achieve, for example the Rank of Captain? How many skill points do I have to reach, how many victories, or other kinds of victory condictions.
Thanks!

To become captain , you must win at arnhem as axis or at omaha as allies, and then score immediately another victory in another scenario, no matter what.
good luck !

I met Stephen Ambrose once and he was every bit as interesting as his books.
I used to work at HMS Dryad in Hampshire, England, as Commanders Assistant. One of my jobs was to show people around the historic map room. http://www.historyarticles.com/southwick.htm We had a tape of a famous news reader describing the map room and its contents. I would show people in, put on the tape. Simples.
One weekend when I was duty Petty Officer I was told a film crew were coming to film some bloke talking about the map room to a bunch of tourists. Oh great I thought, another night wasted.
The tourists were American and the "bloke" was Stephen Ambsore. He talked for about an hour. No notes, no references, nothing, he just talked...... about the map room, the rooms nearby, Eisenhower, D-Day, everything. I just stood there absolutely fascinated, he was riveting. It was the most interesting hour of my life. It was only years later that I found out who Stephen Ambrose was.
Since then I have read all his books. The number of times I have wished I knew who he was that night, so I could have asked him questions.
But I am privileged that I not only met him, but also heard him talk. A great man.
