hello
Garibaldi italian - AD79 4-0 / 1-4

I'll write the reports for this match.

Game 1. Garibaldi Italian as the Allies, me(ad79) as the Axis

I firmly believe that to to good as the Germans in this one you need to be aggressive. So after garibaldi's opening Air Power on the 2 units next to Pegasus Bridge, I attacked with all I had my right.
We traded shots around Pegasus Bridge and after a while Garibaldi had elliminated one of my units and had 2 units with only 1 figure left himself.

He then moved towards and onto Orne Bridge to take it to 2-0 while I desperately tried to hit one of his 1-figure units, but I missed 2 times with 1 die. My last move was a Recon In Force where I moved into Close Assault with his unit on Orne Bridge wishing one of my dice should come up a flag, to recapture Orne Bridge and by me some time, but I rolled 2 INF and 1 GRE to reduce a third Allied unit to 1 figure. My right flank attempt to hit a 1 figure unit failed and garibaldi moved onto Pegasus Bridge and Close Assaulted my 1 figure Inf to take the game 4-0 with 10 figures for him and 2 Objectives captured. I hit only the 9 figures. Very well played match by Garibaldi.

Game 2 Me as Allies, garibaldi as Axis

I started my Blitz by moving towards Orne Bridge with 2 units. Garibaldi moved his units onto Orne Bridge and into the forrest.
Second card was another card on the right that reduced the unit on Orne Bridge to 2 figures and reduced and retreated the unit in the forest. Garibaldis Ambush out of the forrest only hit 1 figure.
Gariabldi then Dug In his unit on Orne, behind the forest on my right and 2 units near Pegasus.
My next card was Genaral Assault that elliminate the unit on Orne Bridge and Took Ground onto it for 2-0 lead and reduced the unit behind the forrest. On my left I moved up close and personal to the units because I had Close Assault in my hand.
Garibaldi's counter this turn managed to reduce and retreat on of my unit close to his Pegasus unit
My third card was Close Assault with the unit in the forest and the unit next to Pegasus Bridge.
The unit in the forest rolled enough to elliminate the german left flank for a 3-0 lead and only 6 figures lost. My unit near Pegasus was in wire and attacked with 2 dice, but only hit with 1 to reduce the German to 2 figures. I then drew Barrage. Could I manage to win this one 4-0 while losing less than 9 figures?

garibaldi played an Assault Right card and if he moved his sandbagged unit into the wire he had 2 dice against my lone Infantry figure. He didn't do this but moved his unit on the far side of the river into 2 dice range and hit with 1 dice. Now, garibaldi had 3 dice and 3 Allied figures to elliminate or he would face the Brrage card. The dice came rolling across the screen and it was a horrible moment when I saw 2 INFANTRY figures flanking a lone GRENADE for a 3dice/3hit shot! garibaldi had done it and taken the 1 medal he needed to prevail in this first round battle.
The next turn Allied Barrage took out the 2 figure German unit that hit the winning shot for an Allied 4-1 win for ad79. Allied took out 12 german figures and held one objective, but garibaldi took out 10 Allied figures to get his 1 medal.

2 great games that had similar strategies, but employed on different flanks.
gariabaldi took 3 of his allied medal on the left and one on the right while I took 3 on the right and 1 on the left. But the winning move was garibaldi taking 1 medal as the Axis.

Thanks for the match, garibaldi and good luck in future rounds!

Oros(8)vs pomakli(4)
[url=http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/battles/?id=2&re turnto=view#list]
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l550/APFSPS/pomakli1.jpg

At the first game, I play Allies. I order my unit in center move forward with no command cards left flank, and take a heavy loses. Until 2 of my unit is eliminate, I found that maybe I should take the right flank, cus I got plenty of command cards support.

The German units also fight well and knock 8 figures out, taking the bridge is not so easy. After that I got 3 medals, forcing pomakli move his units a long distance. At the final, 1 German unit move into the forest in center, but I already prepared a firefight-welcome, rolling 1 single dice 3 times, take my last medal and win.

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l550/APFSPS/pomakli2.jpg

The second game is all about luck. Facing the heavy fire of allies, I play a Direct from HQ at my 1st turn, almost kill 1 allies unit. After that, pomakli still order the 1 figure unit to cut the wires, it give me a good chance to hunt it. The left flank also engaged soon, allies unit run fast, try to capture the Orne bridge. They did, for a while. The next turn I ordered 2 infantries in left, take him down.

Now the situation is 2-0, the defender of pegasus bridge take too more fire and force to retreat. pomakli organized several attack in center, and sometimes I counter-attack back. The bloody combat make me lose 2 unit and pomakli lose 1. Then we put the spotlight back to the left flank, my 2 unit continue move forward, push the allies back, because I want to end this game quickly. But I got a ambush at the end of that turn, so I use it, fight back and succesful shot 3 figures. At the end, I played the Airpower against pomakli's 1 figure unit, roll, scored, and win. Smile

Thanks to this tournament, and pomakli:D

Hi.

Yesterday it was time to met minkor on "Pegasus bridge".

Battle I:
The first battle, minkor took the allied, me the axis troops. The allied opened with a frontal assault in the center section and moved to both objekts. After that all troops in the flank moved to caen canal. The first heavy firefight at Pegasus bridge appeard. Two allied troops take big casualties and regrouped (see screeb shot).

http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/1867/001ajo.jpg

No my axis troops thought, time for their finest hour is come... But dice luck was not with them. The allied countered with finest hour, played two (!!) air power attacks and brought heavy losses on axis side. After this, it was a simply shoot out. Game ended with capturing Orne Bridge for the last victory point. 4-1 for allied minkor.

Sreenshot of the first game:

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/9262/002av.jpg

Battle II:
Allied assault in the middle and after that to Pegasus Bridge. After a short amount of time, Orne Bridge was in Allied hand. But on the other side at pegasus bride, commands didn't arrive proper... Althougt the allies win this battle, two units were lost. To much for winning first round. 2-4 for axis minkor.

In the end minkor won with 6:5 - it was a very close combat Smile

No screenshot available.

Never mind, I'll right it down here:

It was amazing, Hans and I got so bad cards, and despite of this, I rolled uncredible dices (69% hit rate in the 2nd!).
Both games were pleasant and thanks to luck I could face the nice Hans's strategy, mine is so poor!
Hope to fight again very soon!

Starshi Lejtenant Mighty Jim 83 vs Captain Mekke71
Game 1: MighyjJim (Axis)4 v Mekke71 (Allied) 2
Game 2: MightyJim (Allied)4 v Mekke71 (Axis) 2

The first game started inauspiciously for the Germans, as Behind Enemy lines produced 3 flags and a star, allowing the Allies to remove the first sandbags around Pegasus bridge without loss. However things soon started to balance out, and by the time the unit in the sandbags finally capitulated, they had seriously weakened two of the attackers. Casualties on either side on the Allied left flank, but where the Allies had sat back on their right, the Germans advanced to meet them, and thanks to an ambush and a barrage in the final two turns, both bridges were successfully defended: 4-2 to the Germans.

Game 2 began with an Axis firefight in the face of a broad German advance. However, the dice were not with the Germans, and Orne bridge was swiftly taken, with the unit nearest it being destroyed. Allied casualties started to mount on the left as the Germans put up a stout defence of their sandbags, but the approach was finally cleared at the cost of 2 allied units. Having 1 unit that occupied Pegasus Bridge, the Allies saw it re-occupied by the Germans, and concluded with a 'Finest Hour' 4 units were activated, but only 1 was needed, pushing back the defenders, and taking ground to secure the second objective and the 4th medal.

Now then, how do I upload photos?

GAME 1

The allies started out by moving heavy on the left flank. After a couple round without casualties and manoevering, Axis used retreat on the sandbagged unit to trigger firefight. This caused a 0-1 lead for the germans. It then devolved into a trenchfight with the allies using sandbags to fortify their assault on the pegasus bridge objective. Lots of bad rolls where made on both sides of the lines. The allies tied the score by going after a fleeing 1-figure unit. Still a long and attricious battle commenced, with the axis pulling a unit from their left flank to reinforce the heavily wounded right flank.Barraging by the allies had the effect of heavily damaging the last full unit and forcing a retreat move. This was absolutely shattering for the axis morale. However this was soon resolved by eliminating a second axis unit, once again securing the lead for the reich. This momentum was carried forward by wounding a second allied unit to it's last figure. In a bold move the axis commander then commanded his unit's to charge after the fleeing allied scum. A
couple of lucky shots finished the deal leading the axis to victory. 1-4.
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/anni666/aarscreen1.jpg

GAME 2
The game started out fairly normal. One allied unit was wounded to it's last figure fast, while the allies managed to inflict a single casualty on the left flank, and two on the right. Firefighting increased, leading to several allied casualties. Capturing the right Orne bridge secured teh first objective, while killing a unit netted the second medal. The second goal for the allies was totally eliminating the right front while pushing forward slowly on the left front. In time this lead to an allied victory 4-2.

Mighty Jim
marnick
Minkor
Oros

HazzMatt
Garibaldi Italian

Marnick vs Phread

Game 1 Axis Marnick 4 Allies Phread 1

Phread got his butt kicked.
He had few centre cards and too many right flank cards where he had no units.
Unable to utilise his main force he had to watch Marnick pick him off.

Marnick played well finishing the battle killing to single figure units.
A well deserved victory.

Game 2 Allies Marnick 4 Axis Phread 2

Again Phread just didn't have the cards (or die rolls) where and when he needed them.
Marnick's intial attack moved centre units to his right flank where he had the cards to untilise them.
Phread lost both left flank units and the bridge after a sequence of attacks.

Phreads cards allowed him to defend strongly on his left.
But the dice would let him down.
For example in one turn 7 rolls for him, 2 hits, Marnick rolls 3 dice 2 hits.

Phreads defence reduced 3 attacking units to 1 figure, 2 of which he killed the 3rd escaped.

Marnick finally assaulted the sandbagged infantry rolling 2 hits to win the game.

Good luck in the next round.

Welcome back to the Second Round of the King of Beta tournament!

Without further ado I will now announce the match-ups

Kromka vs HazzMatt
Minkor vs Oros
MightyJim vs Colonel Sponz
Marnick vs Garibaldi Italian

Please try to battle as soon as humanly possible, considering the holidays etc. Let's say Januari 8th as an informal deadline but don't break your head over this date.

Soooo I was planning on giving people a beach scenario for this round, and I guess patch 14 gave us the perfect opportunity to play a new map. Also it has about 60/40 bias so it's pretty fair.

New round plays on Juno Beach!

Good luck and above all: have fun!

Starshi Lejtenant Mighty Jim 83 vs Oberleutnant Colonel Sponz
Game 1: MighyjJim (Allies)6 v Colonel Sponz (Axis) 3
Game 2: MightyJim (Axis)6 v Colonel Sponz (Allies) 2

The first battle began with the allies advancing up the beach on right and centre, taking losses as they went but managing to reduce the strength of the axis defenders. Dice were fairly even on both sides, but the axis forces gradually found themselves spread thinner and thinner, unable to defend the various objective points, and enough of the allied armour had survived to push on through and seize the victory.

In the return leg, the axis found better dice, and subjected the allies to a withering fire as they advanced up the beach. Although they managed to take the bunker on the centre-right, the allies lacked the command cards to consolidate their gains and found themselves gradualyl worn down, with the final unit begin pushed back into the ocean and oblivion by the barrage card.

So the only remaining match is that of Oros if I read this correctly. If the deadline skips without response, I'll hook you up with another player. He'll need a 1 medal lead however because you're in the second round already.

Keep this thread open at that day however as the first to respond after me calling it will be in.

Shouldn't Oros progress to the next round by default? If his opponent has not replied to messages or forum posts then he/she looses by his/her inaction.

My 2 cents worth.

Yup... call it a forfeit.

Also when you have a odd number of people, when you have paired everyone up the odd man out gets a "buy" He would score a victory, but no medals.

So give him the win, but no stats for any ties... unless you can find a fill in???

Maybe have him play the last person knocked out???

He could still lose and move on, or if the knock out scores well enough. IE. he has more total Medals in the Tourney, He could be replaced.

lots of ways to do it....

I say let Oros progress.

He tried to play the game, but the opponent didn't show up.

This tournament is currently closed for new participants, with the 8 current players duking it out.

I have no plans to create a new tournament after this one, but there's heavy demand. I will see what I can do.

Great, today I wait online for 1 hour, and just like before, I never see my opponent Minkor shows up, who said that he can play all day 1900~0000 Moscow time. 1900~2000 Moscow time is 0000~0100 midnight for my time zone, and I also played a game for the extention. Now I really get unhappy for this situation.

I'm not sure that Miinkor can continue this match or not now. To met him online is so difficult to me.

Some times, real life gets in the way...

That is why you have to enforce a forfeit rule.

Multiple time zones will always be a problem.

And to say the forfeit is not fair? is it fair to wait to play when you should be in bed asleep for work the next day?

Your forum posts have a date and time stamp. Log in, say I am here and waiting. wait an hour then say I was here, and log out.

If they say well I was waiting also... ask where is your post?
no post, no show... game forfeit.
