Apologies if this has been discussed before, but do we know how coding for some kind of online tournament system is going? And how might such tournaments be organised?
I can see tournaments appealing to a fourth group of players - title chasers - along with points chasers, achievement chasers, and those that play strictly for fun. Of course many players will belong to 2 or more of those sets.
I'd like to see tournaments ongoing all the time. There could be DoW tournaments and player initiated and named tournaments. Entry costing a small amount of GI to discourage timewasters. Games could have a 2 or 3 day deadline for play - communication to set up games could easily be done via the website. Other types of tournament might require the players to all be online at the same time, and require the use of timers like chess clocks to ensure all games are played within 2 or 3 hours. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places could all have gold silver and bronze achievements, or clasps to a parent 'tournament' achievement, associated.
The development team needs no rest, I'm sure!

The development team (and others) are a bit busy right now.
But Tournaments will be on our list at some point.
