'Tis easy. Just wrap the URL of the image you want to post in image tags, which is made very easy for you when you post. Just grab the URL you want. Maybe this one:
http://images.funagain.com/cover/medium/14770.jpg
See the little row of formatting tools buttons above where you're typing your post? Click the one that looks like an image icon, ninth from the right. It will prompt you for the URL. Paste it in there.
BANG.

Image!
You can type out the tags manually, too. You can see examples of BBCode tags here:

Cheers!

The photo needs to be on the internet.
You need to join one (of many) photo sharing websites, then upload your photo to that site and then link using the URL of your photo (on the photo sharing website).

Why is it not possible to use the images from our galleries in forum posts?
I find that strange.

You can. For instance, this is from your gallery:

You just need to copy the direct link (image location) and use that URL.

I think it is because, when you upload your photo's into your gallery, they are on the web. When they are on the web, the server can download them and put them in your message.
I had questions also, but now I know.

When you click the gallery image to blow it up and display it, right click on the image. Depending on your browser, you'll get a variation on "copy image location" or "copy image URL" or some such as an option. Click it. That will copy the image's URL to your pasteboard.
