Breakthrough Overlord in Scenario Editor? Sun, 23 January 2011 10:11
I'm interested in designing some BIG scenarios, but notice that in the scenario editor it isn't possible to have Breakthrough-Overlord in the editor.

Is there any chance that this will be added in the future? Or will I have to create two (or three?!) separate maps?

I don't think DOW is gonna support BO much. Customers would need to much stuff for it to be profitable. Not many customers have that much stuff. But it would be fun if they opened the editor for it.

In the old days...

We only had one board, and we had to make two pages to make an overlord board. You youngsters got no idea how hard we had it...

In the snow, up hill, both ways....

But now we have many boards, and lots of tiles to use.

But really, a breakthrough board side by side? I would want each on a separate piece of paper just for readability. The same piece or paper would be way to small.

There is no reason BO couldn't be edited online as a single map and then printed on two pages. It's all a matter of programming. However, I would expect the changes to the editor are not trivial for this and that other programming efforts have higher priority now.

The simplest editor i knew, is the Vassal module.
And the simplest way i would advice, if somebody creates extension with a double "Breakthrough" map Rolling Eyes

I also have my doubts that DoW will choose to support this format very much, so I wouldn't wait around for them to change the programming...it's probably best to find another way to make your maps; either two Breakthrough maps that you print seperatly or another solution. Razz

As far as I know, the biggest official scenario was "Market Garden", with no less than 281 hexes (standard would be 113, Overlord 230 and Breakthrough 213). Has anybody designed a bigger scenario so far? "Overlord Breakthrough" should contain 434 hexes, that's an awful lot ... Shocked

Yes there are bigger scenarios would be my guess... Just have to wait for them to be published.

Or Mr Borg confirms Maj. Turboheizer's calculations, which would be less good Smile For the players I mean, not for Maj. Turboheizer's counting ability.
