Just a little trip and no one remembers about me...
So how about my game? Am I still in?

From HQ: I am confirming my participation in the tourney.

Oh no! Now we have a dilemma .. Gents I feel its a bit harsh to penalise Morgiliath .. he was one of the first to respond, but then has been away for 3 days on a trip, and narrowly missed the deadline by a couple of hours !

David would you be so gracious as to step back from the plate? Wink

Technically no results have come in .... so Morgiliaths confirmation would seem to be the fairest thing ..

Re:Axis vs Allies Tournament Tue, 15 March 2011 21:45
OK, IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT COMING IN FROM HQ....

Due to a few rapidly changing circumstances we have a new look AXIS team !

A) Morgiliath
B) Rasmussen
C) Frankeytje
D) David5272
E) gheintze
F) Jaykay2010

I have altered the fixture list to reflect this, but essentially, if, as an Ally player, you were expecting to play JJs Juggernaut you simply need to know that you are now playing Morgiliath.

Hope that's clear to all ...

We're sorry to lose you so soon Josiah, hope everything's ok, I'll make sure you get an invite to the next one!

Regards

Jim

It would be helpful, when submitting the battle result, if you could CLEARLY show the scores of BOTH competitors, and also CLEARLY mention the FIXTURE number and scenario, for no other reason than it would significantly help my organisational skills lol Any light AAR's are welcome but not compulsory.
The winner should post the result, checking with their opponent that they have the correct score for BOTH players. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!! JUST BECAUSE YOU THRASHED YOUR OPPONENT DOESNT MEAN YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT THE ODD MEDAL HE MAY HAVE PICKED UP!

First results from the front coming in on the wire...

In Fixture 6, Tunisia:

Mochihead (Allies) 6 d. JayKay2010 (Axis) 4

it was a great battle that went right down to the wire. jaykay2010 would likely have won on the next turn with the TFH he was left holding. early on it looked like axis had the upper hand with some aggressive armor movement; allies weakened the tanks but couldn't seem to ever get the final kill die to come. finally, the dice turned cold for axis, and a sequence of strong cards helped the allied armor break through to the rear, finish off every last german tank, and carry the day.

Great report Garrett ... I'm still recovering from my mid-game TFH ... 6 dice rolled and one lousy infantry! lol Not a good point in the battle .. well played mate, and what an excellent scenario ... amazingly neither of us had played it before!

Re:Axis vs Allies Tournament Wed, 16 March 2011 10:26
FIXTURE 3 - Montelimar Jaykay2010 V Phread 5-6 a narrow victory to the Allies.

The battle started evenly with both side eliminating a unit in the first turn.
Things then went better for the Axis as the continued to finish their kills while the Allies could only wound units.

It was soon 4 - 3 to the Axis.

The turning point of the game was when the Axis rolled 2 armour & an infantry from a "Their Finest Hour" card. With only an armour in the city on his right an one on his left the selected single figure infantry in the centre killed another infantry unit 5-3. The armour on the right advanced to the town boundary. The left armour advanced to the board edge and got three hits but not the kill needed for victory.

An assault on the right for the Allies killed this brave bold panzer unit (8 rolls for 3 hits). Had the tide turned?

The Axis rearranged his unit in his next turn. An Allied airpower accounted for another weakened Axis infantry, now 5-5.

The Axis had nothing to attack in his final turn. The Allies played an Assault in the Centre to send an armoured unit after a single figure infantry, successful roll and the Allies won 6-5.

A tough even battle which either side could have won.

The prize for the victor was to write this report.

Thanks Jaykay2010

Completely concentrated in the center of the map it was only a question of who ran out of center cards and/or units first.

Very quick and intense game!

FIXTURE 6

Tunisia
Rasmussen (Axis) 6 - Nygaard (Allies) 3

I had a good hand of cards and thought I might be able to pull off a big win and keep Magnus at only 1 medal, but as usual he was able to play the battle well, with the cards he had, and he pulled off a few extra medals before the end!

Looney Llama(Allies) 6 JayKay (Axis) 4

Very close battle. Axis inf. wiped out on left flank. Allied inf wiped out in center. Turnig point is Axis had a 2-2-2 card and got only one hit with all attacking units. Allies destroy Axis left flank tank to secure victory.

Twin Villages

Looneyllama (Allies) 6 Gheintze (Axis) 5

Axis starts very strong and destroys inf. and tank unit. Allies counterattack and destroy two tank units. However, they are down to one tank figure in two units. They pull back and use artillery, behind enemy lines, and an heroic left flank inf. to come all the way back to 5-5. Finally, a barrage on a two figure inf. unit secures the Allied victory. Axis on next turn was ready with an inf. assault that would surely have been decisive.

By the way, we played a rematch and Geoff kicked my butt 6 to 2. I never got out of the woods.

FIXTURE 2 - Toulon
gheintze v Phread 1-6

A 6-1 victory to the Allies (Phread).

The score doesn't reflect the evenness of the battle.

The Allies started slowly with few hits and too many flags.
The Axis got the first kill in the centre after withstanding an Allied infantry attack. Then the Axis luck changed and they started retreating not killing units.

Pressure in the centre lead to the first kills for the Allies as the two infantry dug in on the hills were slowly worn down and killed.

The Axis luck changed for the better when they eliminated the Axis artillery on the left with armour attacks.

Brave attacks by the Axis infantry in the centre came to naught as they couldn't score the hits they needed against weakened Allied infantry. The Allies fought back.

Eventually the weight of Allied armour against the sandbagged Axis infantry won the battle.

Both sides rolled on 23% hits on infantry with the Allies rolling 27% stars and the Axis 28% flags. Not a hard hitting battle but hard fought nonetheless.

FIXTURE 4 - Twin Villages
Morgiliath v Phread 6-2

Axis victory 6-2

Morgiliath wins the right to do the right up.

The cards and dice favoured the Axis.
68 shots vs 42, 29% hits vs 33%, the Allies were never in the game.
Out rolled, out manouvered, out played, well done Morgiliath
