Memoir 44 Editor Update??? Mon, 21 February 2011 10:34
When will there be a update for the Editor? I REALLY miss the Winter Wars expansion there?

It can't be that difficult Wink

The Scenario Editor is going to be updated along with or around the same time as one of the beta versions, I believe. The plan is to perfect the system for players to create their own scenarios and then have the option to upload the battle to Memoir '44 Expert Mode! There's more to the update than just adding in terrain tiles and such... Cool

Might I suggest that you create a unique User Name for your profile so we can tell who you are and remember you during future conversations? Razz You can change your name by going to "My Account" in the top right corner of the screen! Smile

I think it's kind of fun *not* having an update. I have enjoyed creating scenarios with special instructions like "the Imperial Japanese infantry marked with the French Resistance badges are Machine Gun infantry." Laughing

I'm looking forward to the update, I've had to label everything and the labels cover over the yellow fig count circle, and make it hard to see what kind of terrain the unit is in. I'm also looking forward to editing my scenario "The Bulge Pushes Out" for Winter Wars winter roads and badges. (I also use my own light tank badge that I made for that one. It's in my picture gallery.)

I just finished the Japanese night counterattack at Kakazu and need to test it myself a couple of times before I make it public. I'm also *trying* to come up with a way to represent the waves of kamikaze attacks that represented a huge part of the battle in the surrounding ocean. Hopefully I'll have the Counterattack at Kakazu up by the middle of the week.

Waiting for the update too. I'm part of the player loving this game ONLY because of the Editor & Home scenarios (with respect for the fans of official scenarios or online M44 game)!

Need so much some snow roads & other Winter Wars pieces for my new scenarios.

When will we ever get that editor update? I'm very much looking forward to it. I've held off putting a scenario on the front because the counts will be off on terrain because of WW. I know you guys are busy with M44 online, ect. But pleeeaase!

I'll bet you could find a volunteer who would code the update for the editor while the expansion was in production, so they could be released simultaneously.
I don't know how, or I would volunteer (there are other personal restrictions involved).

Waiting too from France ... !

Happy to see there are lots of scenario creators around here to compete with the online players!

Why playing M44 online? I'm still guessing because there are so many beautifull video games ...!?!?! ... For me M44 is the pleasure to come back to the live boardgame with a mate & a bottle (of wine or whisky)!

COME ON: give us the new editor please! If it's for money (I respect it: time is money): I'm ready to pay!

Cool

Haven't you noticed something strange on SFTF? All scenarios from GhostBrigades's Bloody Saturday were last edited today?! Weird, isn't it?

This was fixed later in the day. We are working on the 1.1 version of the Scenario Editor, and there was some temporary collateral damage.

Re:Memoir 44 Editor Update??? Fri, 25 March 2011 08:08
Dear M44 Editor users,

As I said, we've been working on the next version of the Memoir '44 Editor (the so-called "1.1" release). And as you know, we are a bit behind our original schedule, but it's taking shape.

Even if it won't show a lot of new features at first sight (only the support for Winter Wars), this future version will support a completely new file format and built-in support for the Memoir '44 Online format. In other words, your scenarios will become compatible with the online game once we activate the feature in the game.

This also involves work on the server side. As you can see right now, the set-up order disappeared yesterday from the web page and the PDF export. We are working to fix this bug as quickly as possible.

So to make a long story short, it's a lot of invisible and hard work, but it will be worth the effort in the long run.

Thanks for your patience and your understanding,

Yann

Yann,
Are these bugs or changes related to the loss of games on our SERVICE RECORD?
I had about 200 games disappear from my recorsd a few days ago.

Loss of games? No, there is nothing related to this. Were they solo or normal games?

In my opinion, the loss of the games in the service record is connected to the disappearance of the Campaign book scenarios from the scenario list. At least in my service record, it are exactly those games that are missing now. So, when the missing scenarios are returned to the database, the service records should also reappear.

Yann, see the above content.

Yes, I think Turboheizer may be partially on track with the answer. I had played both the Normandy and Fall Gelb campaigns. Nevertheless, I doubt that is going to account for 200 games. More like 20 games. Tank Commander has the sam e issues with his games.

As it looks, all records of classified scenarios have disappeared. This also includes the revised scenarios from the Air Pack.

As it looks, all records of classified scenarios have disappeared. This also includes the revised scenarios from the Air Pack.

It's confirmed: most of the "classified" scenarios from the AirPack and the Campaign Book Vol 1 were set back to "private" status for some reason. This made their AARs invisible as a side effect.

This is most likely a bad side effect of the file format conversion we performed a few days ago in preparation of the switch to the Memoir '44 Editor 1.1.

I'll set all of them back to the correct status tomorrow.

Thanks for your notice and your help to uncover this issue!

Will we ever get the promised editor update? I have at least one Winter Wars scenario waiting on the promised update. I know it takes a while, but please! Before I sound like a spoiled brat child, I do thank you for the editor as is, and the ability to work on scenarios off-line and upload them. But, forgive me, my patience is starting to wear. We have had two upgrades (or three) to memoir online, since WW, but no editor update.

Don't forget that this is a much bigger update than simply making new terrain and unit badges available!! This update is going to allow players to add their scenarios to the list of available Expert Mode battles...so the Editor is going to have to integrate perfectly with Memoir '44 Online and it has to tell the program all sorts of information! It sounds very complicated to me. Smile

Along with that, Yann said that the Editor would be ready some time this week or next week. Surely we can wait that much longer!! Rolling Eyes Cool

Yeah, I didn't hear that. I don't really care about expert mode. I've only played the online game solo except for three games when they were testing the servers.

I think you would find Expert Mode very helpful for testing your scenarios, once this update is finished. Smile

My main point was that the issue isn't that DoW isn't giving the Editor their attention. In fact I'll bet they've been working on this update a lot...but it's a huge update. Even if you don't use the Online game, hopefully knowing why this update is taking so long will help the wait go a little better. Cool

So I just purchased and downloaded the editor, expecting the 'old' version, and that the new winter wars tiles and badges, etc would not be included. It looks to me like all the winter wars stuff is here. It is version 1.1.1 - is this the new version?
