Winter wars: two questions Sun, 27 March 2011 20:28
In the first secnario in the winter wars expansion, the Allies can gain medals by exiting units off of the map. Is the adjacent hex off-board also considered a road hex so that a unit can move straight off the board via road movement if it's two hexes away from the exit marker but on a road or does it ALWAYS cost one additional movement point to exit?

I take it that when playing the behind enemy lines card when winter weather is in effect non-road movement is limited to two hexes, since the card reads that terrain (and battle) restrictions still apply. I feel the winter weather also represents snowy conditions and therefore "terrain" that;s more difficult to traverse.

Played the first scenario and the Crossraods at fraiture one. Both very enjoyable and recommended!

Hexes off the edge of the board don't matter...you can move a unit 2 hexes along a road and exit it, as long as the unit was on the road for both moves...because all it has to have is movement ability to exit the board.

The Behind Enemy Lines card can be confusing (which is why it has a whole page in the Official FAQ, which you might find helpful) but basically you can move any 3 hexes...battle with an extra die...then move any three hexes again. The only major restriction is that the terrain can't be impassible.

The BEL card was changed a bit from the original card that you're looking at to say that Terrain movement doesn't count but terrain battle restrictions still apply. So an Infantry unit can move freely through that deep snow...

Enjoy!
