This is the sign-up thread for SPWC 2011; EMC 2011, and SMC 2011. When signing in, Please clearly note which you are signing up for: SPWC 2011; EMC 2011, and SMC 2011. List each one! Though we are considering one small change to the starter rule. TDs: onyx puffin, angel6, and AGT-DN It is hoped these 3 tournaments will start around May 2nd. same procedure as every year ... the question on the starter in the last game in case of previous ties will come up sooner or later Maybe the TDs can clarify beforehand The rule as it is Starting player rule for Best of 7/9: For the first game the starting player is determined randomly. After this game the starting player is changed in every game - ALSO AFTER A TIE ! (Note: The last player starting has to create the next game and activate "other players start") till the final 7th/9th game (at 3-3 in bo7 or 4-4 in bo9), if this happens. For the final game the starting player is also determined randomly - IN THE CASE THE FINAL GAME ENDS TIED THE NEXT GAME(S) WILL BE PLAYED WITH ALTERNING STARTING PLAYER UNTIL ONE PLAYER WINS A GAME would say that in the following case Game 1 - random start for player A - win B Game 2 - start for B - tie Game 3 - start for A - win A Games 4-7 alternating starts B/A/B/A with alternating wins it's now 3:3 and the start in the next (=likely last) game is random, even though A has had 4 starts so far while B had only 3 Is that as intended? If not, the rule should be rewritten to For a game at 3-3 (bo7) or 4-4 (bo9) the starting player is determined randomly whenever both players had the same amount of starts before. Another observance on the rules of minor importance: They don't include the "winner has to post the result" paragraph that we have in the League. I think, that's good, and should be a hint to post as loser. Honestly, who wants to read the standard, ever polite "I won, and I was lucky on ticks and locos, and I'm so sorry for that, and I wish you more luck in your next games/tournaments ..." disclaimer? I preferred the "old times" when most of the players posted their final "grats" after losing a match. We had everything from "clearly outclassed, well done" to "grats you f..g lucky b..." and even the "I had no start, no locos, bad ticks and colors" -whiners were more fun to read then nowadays' canned win-announcements. Of course we cannot force the losers to post, can we? - in that case the winner can still do it on the next day with some appropriate text. Comments anyone? [Report message to a moderator]

Hey dea I was going to write something on that tonight too, technically with a tie it would be game 8 so it's kind of inferred that it still alternates, as it should, I gotta go out now there was also one other thing if a double tie on last game that I'll write later tonite. But yes either way it needs to be done extra clearly as you don't want to wait til you get to the final to find out if you have a classy opponent or not. Luckily I had a classy one . I never understood why, in all tournaments, there is this rule to have a random start for last game. If there is only a random start for first game, and alternate start for all others, tie or not, I think there is no more advantage or disadvantage for each players than in current rules...and a huge simplification ! ! We as TDs had already been discussing this rule, and expect to soon publish this basic change to the rules. (wording is still being discussed between the 3 of us) If you have comment on this take it to new thread I set-up please! I would like to keep this as sign-up thread.
