Dear Memoir '44 Online Officers:
We are happy to report that we released version Beta 23 of the software.
As you will see, this release was worth the extra delay: it includes ton of new stuff, as well as numerous fixes!
Survive the bitterest Eastern Front battles and...
We released two additional Eastern Front scenarios: "Breakout To Lisyanka" and the long-awaited, "Red Barricades Factory Complex" battle of Stalingrad. Will you be able to take these snipers out, or will you go mad trying?
...enter into the hell of the Pacific Jungles!
The Marines have landed in the Pacific, and they've come in force! No less than four scenarios from the Pacific Theater are introduced in this version: "Wake Island", "Matanikau River", "Slopes of Mount Austen" and "Guam Landings". Make sure you study the rules of the US Marines and the Japanese Imperial Army before land on these bloody beaches!
New Officer Rank: Lieutenant-Colonel
The introduction of the first Pacific Theater scenarios finally allows us to enable the next Officer Rank: Lieutenant-Colonel (LTC). As usual, you will find hints about the promotion conditions on the game Web site at:

Lots and lots of fixes and improvements!
Not only does this version bring you 6 new scenarios, but as we inch closer to the official release, we've also managed to squeeze in a very large number of improvements (about 60 of them!). Some are bug and crash fixes, others improvements to the user interface. You will probably notice them here and there: small details that make everyone's life easier, from the cadets to the veterans.

What's Coming Next?
First of all a BIG DISCLAIMER: This is development Software, and what is worse, Beta Software. So while we believe what follows to be the most accurate description of our development plans and status as of this date, some things might still go wrong: as a result there could still be a difference between what we plan to do and hope to accomplish at any point in time, and what we will actually be able to deliver over the next few months, in terms of timing and features...
As was started with this version, we are going to keep on working providing the final polish of the graphics and user interface elements we want to have in place for 1.0. Improving the experience for beginning players, especially those that are new to Memoir '44, will be an important part of this work.
All did not go as planned and hoped for, however. Otherwise, it wouldn't be software! Version 1.1 of the Memoir '44 Editor was delayed and could not ship last week as we had initially hoped to, because of an unexpected issue with the Windows installer. But do not worry - we are getting there!
Reminder: Due to a series of internal scheduling constraints, the next update will be released in 3 weeks. Hopefully the current version and new scenarios should keep you busy till then!
How to upgrade?
It is quite easy, simply launch the game. After you log in, it will automatically detect the new version and offer to download it. Make sure you do so. Then follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
If you have problems, you can always go to http://www.memoir44-online.com and download the software again. Nothing will be lost, since all your profile is stored in your DoW Online account.

I am not seeing the gain/loss of ranking points shown in the AAR screen at the end of a battle.
Is this a bug (and should be reported) or a new feature. If the latter where does one now find the gain/loss of points for the scenario/battle?

The display of Skill Points gained or lost in a game was creating more confusion and frustration than good, so we made the decision to remove it from from the end-of-game Summary screen. You can still check your current Skill value in your Officer Records, however, and see the Skill of other players when you select their name in the Headquarters screen.
Note that we are still not satisfied with the way our Skill system works right now, so this will likely change at a later point; we have been kicking around some alternative ideas internally, to provide for a more interesting game experience for competitive players. But this won't happen until sometime after 1.0 ships.
For now our sole focus needs to remain on preparing 1.0 for release.

Thank you for the explanation Eric.
I know I where I can find my points tally and current rank - what I miss is the gain/loss shown after each scenario.
I know it is (often) frustrating to see the huge loss after losing to narrow battle to a much lower ranked opponent but it also satisfying to have played the underdog, won and gained points. I miss that.

I like the tweaked layout, but still want the arrows back instead of the big X, it sits right under the window x and is distracting to click on an X and hoping not to close out the program.
