Week-end bonus! Sun, 15 May 2011 11:04
Dear M44 Officers:

A few Web features for the week-end...

- There is now a detailed page about each battle you play. To see it, simply click on any battle name in your Career War Diary. You also have the same link in other places of the Web site whenever a battle is mentioned: Achievement, Officer promotion, etc.
The main thing to notice is that the AAR reports are displayed in this page. Example:

http://www.memoir44-online.com/battle?id=22966445

- In your Career War Diary, there is now a little Excel icon on the top right side. This will export the current period into an Excel file. Numbers lovers (and I know there are many among you Wink) will get all details about each of their battles: battle id, date and time, scores, opponent info, front, scenario name and id, etc.

Enjoy,

Yann

PS: if you have friends who want to enroll, you can direct them to the new "Get Started" page of the Web site. It introduces the game and performs all the sign-up, enrolling and download steps in one single user interface:

http://www.memoir44-online.com/start

Have fun!

The pages look great! If I was a new player (ah, those were the days) and I stumbled into the Memoir '44 Online pages, I would definitely be interested in finding out more. Things are looking much more professional and sharp.

Nice work with the new AAR system...I'll have to start writing some after my battles now. Smile And congratulations to Sam and ChizelMonkee for being the poster-boys!! Very Happy

By the way, folks, if you go to your 2011 and 2010 pages, you can export those to Excel, too.

Yann/DOW, rather than doing three separate exports and merge them together, why not allow users to export their entire history (or just a selected date range) at once?

At first this is what I intended to do (putting each period in a separate worksheet in one single Excel document) but I did not do it for 2 reasons: first, it proved more tricky than expected, and then this would have meant mixing some permanent information with some in-progress one: obviously, 2010 is not going to change anymore, but 2011 and "Last 15 days" is still going to. So I kept the first implementation this way. We'll see depending on players' feedback how/when we improve this little feature.

The ability to export one's whole career in a singel button is - to me - a nice if not a must have.

I can merge the spreadsheets myself if I want to do so.

Having the data to download is excellect. Many thanks to the DoW crew.

The numbers don't match though.
The game reports I have played 1002 scenarios the spreadsheets (once combined) lists 998 !

Phread, you need to get out the house more Laughing

But nice one to DoW, the spread sheet is good. Now we can all be like Rimmer and keep a diary of all our games Wink

The question of where to draw the boundaries is an interesting one. I'm not sure that people think in terms of "last 15 days" vs "previous," and using a relative time period like that may be awkward the second time somebody downloads his history, if it isn't exactly 15 days later. If you want to do something incremental like that, consider offering options of (1) Current month, (2) Previous month, and (3) Everything before current month (including Previous month).

In the new Battle Detail page, am I correct that only the AAR is new, and everything else was already in the Career History report? Two suggestions for that: Either include a screen shot of the final position and/or dice statistics (which could be linked to the scenario map from a separate table), or add the first few words of the AAR and an expand-me button to the existing report (as we have in the existing scenario database).

By the way, out of the four different Career History report formats that are currently in use, my favorite is still the one in the actual M-Online program. Unlike the Career War Diary, it's a nice, compact one line per battle. Unlike the ones that link from the Memoir Rankings page and the individual players' pages, it gives the names of all the battles.

Assuming that maybe some don't know about this:
-Select all colums,
-Data->Filter->AutoFilter

Now, you can filter on sides, front, annoying opponents, etc...

If they are aborted then they shouldn't be counted. I don't quit games so they would be caused by bugs and shouldn't be counted in either total.

I know have a win on both sides in every scenario.
Thought I had done this already, but the spreadsheets showed 3 scenarios where I had not - now rectified.

Does the 1002 include solo games and the 998 doesn't?

The 1002 (as it was then and is more now) was taken from the service record page of the M44 Online application.
