Dear DoW Crew,
In spite of the reaction to the recruiting requirement for Colonel, I totally understand what you were trying to accomplish.
And I want to thank you for putting that requirement in place. Why do i want to thank you for a requirement that I didn't think was a good idea?
Well, thanks to your initiative I have invited my brother, my son, and online gaming friends from far away (Germany, Kansas, Washington) to join M'44. And I'm going to really enjoy playing against them... Five of them have signed up and are enjoying the game! (One has already been promoted.)
Without your initiative, I probably never would have been encouraged to invite them. And I'm not sure I would have done it just for an achievement. And having the invite form on your site certainly made it easier.
So thank you for motivating me to invite my friends. I look forward to next week and the changes that are coming.

I agree, Geoff! I've invited a lot of friends and family to join the game who I might not have tried to recruit if the invitation system wasn't so easy. It's a lot easier to send off an invitation than it would have been to try explaining how to get the game installed and how to set up an account.
I too am looking forward to playing against my cousins and friends!

You're welcome, Eric. It's a great version of the game, and I'm really enjoying it (as evidenced by over 700 games played!).
Just a reminder to everyone, please tell your recruits to register with the email address that the invite is sent to. I'm still working with Yann to resolve some of my recruits that used a different email address and I haven't gotten credit for them.

I'm having the exact same issue...I find it a little bit strange that people switch e-mail accounts when they sign up for the game but it's happened twice with my recruits!!
I suggested to Yann that maybe the sign-up system could have a little area where recruits write in the User Name for the person who asked them to join. That way you could get credit for recruiting someone face-to-face as well as through the e-mail system! And it would eliminate the problem of people using different accounts...

I made the same suggestion. If we get it straightened out -- I'll already have five recruits and two of them have already been promoted.
Now, if my son can get the dice to go his way...

Nice work!! I already have 4 recruits that I know of but only two of them count...and one person has been promoted. I even got my mom signed up for the Online game and she's talking trash about taking me down in my own game!! 
I still haven't seen any achievement for recruiting people on the achievement list, so hopefully the badges will be retroactive once they're put up...and I hope they have different levels of badges for people like you who might end up with 10+ recruits.

That's quite optimistic of you!!
I officially have three with one promoted. My other friend signed up today with an alternate email and has played several tims and already been promoted. If i get credit for him and someone that already had a DoW account (with an alternate email again  ) then I'll be all set except for one more promotion.
And there are another three invites outstanding...
Wish I could get my mom and dad to play... nice job!

The Achievements related to invitations will be active only with the next release, but don't worry, they will take into account all your past invitations, so you will get them.

What is it with the alternate e-mail accounts? One guy I invited used his other account when he signed up for no apparent reason. When I asked him about it, he said that he just used the opposite account to the one I invited him on...which makes no sense!!  Strange.

I have a dedicated email account that I use to register for online games, which is different to the email account I mainly use for the rest of my work/life. It simply helps to keep things like records of usernames/passwords and announcements ordered so I know exactly where to look when I need to, like when my memory goes and I forget who I am 
I appreciate the problem this creates when it comes to the rest of us recruiting, but it sounds as tho' DoW are on the case to overcome this slight hurdle ... let's hope it works out for us (and them) in the end as I think its a great idea.

I had one of my friends change the email address in their account to the one that I used in the invite, but it didn't connect the two. So I look forward to the new solution...

It's up and running. In each pending invitation, there is a little pencil icon that you can click on. This will allow you to update the e-mail address. If the corresponding user is found (and had enrolled), then he will be linked to your invitation automatically.

Perfect! It works like a dream.
So all you have to do is find out what e-mail address your recruit used, paste it into the spot and update...and you'll get credit for it! Thanks for the fix, Yann and crew.

So, do we actually get achievements for recruiting new players or does it just allow you to be promoted to the next rank? I was thinking there was something shiny we would get...or has the shiny achievement not been created yet?

I think to get to Colonel, we will now just have to play cadets instead of recruiting. At least that is what the officer ranks page implies.

Correct. The Band of Brothers is now entirely distinct (and separate) from leveling up.

That's what I thought too, but I haven't seen the actual achievements yet. Maybe they aren't available yet, because they don't appear in the 'Achievements' section of the Online page.
I have 7 friends who have responded to my recruiting efforts and 2 of them have been promoted, but there's no achievement yet. It might come out today, though, with the new update!
