DoW, i think it must be better to have an obligatory nickname rather than playerxxxxxx, on my list, i think i have played a dozen of anonymous player which I forgot which one is which

I don't think DoW should choose a name for the players...but an e-mail with directions on how to change their name might be in order! My brother said that he got some e-mails after signing up that gave him important links to things like the User Guide and such.

It would be a simple thing to write an e-mail that all new players receive right after signing up that gives them a link to their Account page with directions for changing their User Name to a unique one. It would sure help us remember the new 'faces' better!!

We can't forget that many (maybe most) of the new cadets joining Memoir '44 have never played the board game and know nothing about the system. I've recruited 10 friends to join the game and only 1 of them actually knew the rules before they joined up!!

What this means, is that as the experienced players we can't be surprised or frustrated when new players do something unexpected when it comes to the 'etiquette' of the game. It sounds like you did exactly the right thing, Phread, and I'm sure the player didn't realize there was anything strange about his action...in fact I'll bet he was surprised to see that he wasn't playing the same side again and wondered why he had to change the automatic setting.

My brother has wanted to play the same side over and over so that he can try to beat me, but also because after only one battle he feels like he's just figuring out an effective strategy! He knows that a rematch normally involves switching sides because I've told him but his preference with me is still to replay the same side...

I think it's a good idea to approach every cadet as if Memoir '44 Online is their first experience with this great game! Things we take for granted will probably need to be explained and we will be answering a lot of basic questions...but at least we get to set the tone for how helpful, patient, and respectful this community is.

The 10% off would be for people who registered their base game or another big game. You just input the internet code that you'll find on the back of the rule book. You can apply the 10% discount to any purchase, including GI...
