Why no PayPal option for payment? This is the prefered payment method for me.

Big +1.

PayPal seems like a perfect solution for this sort of pay-for-play scheme. Two or three clicks and you're done.

I'm also not real wild about entering all of my address and credit card information every time I'm looking for some lucre (or whatever the goofy fake money is called). In fact, I'm not sure I will be doing that ...

I can only assume that paypal charges are higher than credit cards. Seems a bit skimpy though.

PayPal is my payment method of choice on the internet.

I will often avoid sites that don't use it.

Why would DoW use a different payment method like PayPal when they have their own system already in place? I don't know how much, but I'm sure PayPal charges a premium to use their services...so what kind of company is going to pay for payments when they can receive them for free?! Rolling Eyes

That's not quite correct. They have to pay charges to the credit card companies.

So with PayPal would they have to pay for the PayPal service as well as the credit card companies? I'm afraid I don't know how the system works, but it seems that there would have to be some major incentive for a company to change their payement system.

But like I've said, I don't know how it all works so maybe it would be an easy process... Razz

NO.

They would just pay Paypal instead of credit card charges. But as I said, Paypal would no doubt charge more.

With Paypal being owned by Ebay, they would probably charge '2% for looking in the mirror twice'... which will be meaningless to anyone who hasn't seen the musical Les Miserables Smile

It seems strange, because DOW uses PayPal for payment in their online store.

They do? Rolling Eyes In the United States form they don't use PayPal (from what I can tell). I went through the order process until I got to the payment portion and it says "Secured encrypted transaction certified by Thawte". Nothing about PayPal...

Do they maybe use PayPal for the Europe store? Confused

I checked and they do have PayPal available in the Europe store. I wonder why they use it for Europe and not the United States. Razz

This could be some to add to the suggestion thread up at the top...I think it's the Feature Request Log. Smile

In fact it turns out that GI can be bought from the Euro store via PayPal, but I prefer to buy from the US store, because it is 25% cheaper.

So the question really becomes, "Why isn't PayPal available in the US Store?" That's something that you will have to ask DoW customer service directly. Smile

About PayPal:

- We would LOVE to have PayPal directly within the application, but it's technically impossible: it needs to go through your web browser, via their redirect process. So this means buying War Treasure packs from our Web store.

- We WILL implement PayPal on our US web store - I just need to find some time to do it. Anybody has a time machine to lend to me for a short while? Wink

I still like the "Clone" idea that someone had. Imagine the amount of work that you could do with 3 of you, Yann!! Granted, it might make things a little strange at home... Laughing

You are busy creating a time machine Yann, transporting us back to the 1940's, but the laws of physics have to be obeyed, so by giving us Time, it costs you Time. Smile

Well, it's been six months since anyone mentioned Paypal in these forums, so I guess there never will be an option for me to buy Memoir 44 credits in US/CDN dollars using Paypal. Too bad, I don't think I'm alone in not having or wanting a credit card.

I will check back again in another 6 months, I suppose.

I don't have or want a credit card - so I used my debit card.

A debit card? Is that one of those cash cards issued by the US credit card companies?

I guess "debit card" means something different in my country - here it's a bank ATM card, connected to a checking account.

I really like this game, and I don't mind waiting until they offer the payment option that I find to be the safest and easiest. Maybe by the time I can pay for more gold, they'll have Battlelore too!

Days Of Wonder sold the rights to Battlelore in 2008 to Fantasy Flight Games and no longer owns or produces it. You may have a long wait...

For the record: Adding Paypal is on our to-do list, it just happens not to have move quite to the top of the list yet. Rolling Eyes

But we'll get there, eventually.

Yes, it's connected to a checking account and is just an alternative to using paper checks.

Yesterday, I started playing M44 Online, and now my free credits are almost depleted Crying or Very Sad
I tried to buy some, but it asks me for my credit card, which I don't have. (I live in Belgium) Is there any hope of other payment methods being implemented soon?

thanks in advance

If you live in Belgium, you can buy a M44 pack from our European Web Store, which does support PayPal. Go to:

http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/buy/?family=YY-MO

Make sure you are logged in with your account. Add the pack you want, go through the check-out process, and click on the PayPal icon at the Payment step.

Thanks for the reply, Yann. After I posted the message, I happened to discover it myself. Anyway, I now purchased a package, and can play M44 for a while. I really love the game.
