Hellfire Pass vs Cadet KerryJaquith
4:52pm

When playing Hellfire Pass, my artillery shot killed the final unit to win the game and the game froze. My Memoir screen went white and I could not log out, log in or do anything inside the game.

After trying to minimize the screen and close it, I had to close the program using the Control Panel in Windows. I could then restart the program without a problem. This was the second time this happened. The first was several months ago when a killing shot that would have won me the game also froze my computer.

EDIT: It did give me credit for winning the game in my Service Record.

Windows
Fullscreen

I could not make a log or file since it froze the whole program.
No clue why. Just thought I would report it.
Overall a great game.

Apologies to Cadet KerryJaquith for not being able to play a rematch if he wanted one.

Hi, Blackthorne --

While we all use this Forum to communicate, and DOW does read the Forum, this isn't how they enter bug info into their system. It helps DOW greatly for all of us to use their standard Bug Report form.

The easiest way to find the Bug Report form is through the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of any DOW web page (including this one).

It's good that you noted the time of the incident. (I always include my time zone, too.) That may help you to identify the correct logfile to attach.

I hope this helps.

Sam

Yeah, I tried the Bug Report but it wants a screen shot or file log, neither of which I could provide because the program locked up (or my computer locked up the program). It would not accept my submission without one which I could not provide.

Thus, my post.

You should still be able to provide a log file...because even if your computer locked up the program there would normally be a file created. The Log file isn't found in the game itself but in the background files.

Check the Log folder and look for a run file that was created during the time your program quit on you. If Memoir '44 Online opened, the file will be there! Smile

Good luck. Cool

Thank you. I believe I found the right log and sent it with the generic Bug Report.

This is a typical path name for the log folder: "C:\Program Files\Memoir'44 Online\log"

You won't be able to attach a current logfile until you've exited from the program. (Obviously, that won't be an issue for a past logfile.)

It's a good idea to zip the logfile before sending. I don't know if this is the same for all Windows systems, but on my XP system, I right-click and "add" it to a zipfile that has the same basic name as the logfile.

To do a screenshot of the board, I use ctrl-alt Print-Screen, and paste the image into my Paint program, then save it as a JPG.

I reported the "BEL, Ambush & Flag" bug earlier today. After the bug reappeared, I tried to report it a second time because it had been my first report and I wasn't sure if I did everything right.

But when I try to send the report after filling out the form, the page gets stuck, the whole DoW website becomes unavailable and my whole Internet connection is slowed down so much that it becomes unusable!

When I tried sending large, unzipped logfiles, it would take a while and then fail. (Not exactly the same symptoms you're reporting, but I'm sure our computers aren't the same.)

If you didn't zip your logfile before attaching, try doing that.

You really want to Zip your log files (and any other files you include) when filing a bug report. This will make your life (and our server's) easier. Razz

Thanks in advance,

Yann
