Figuring Out Scenario Selection Sun, 26 June 2011 18:13
Hi,

I'm just getting started here, trying to figure out a couple of things.

1) Can I read the scenario description anywhere within the game before I select it to play, or do I have to dig out my board games and leaf through those scenarios?

2) Are scenarios available from all of the expansions that have been published? Specifically I'm hoping for the air pack.

3) Related to #2, are any of the Overlord type scenarios available here, either solo or against opponents?

4) I see that expert mode is not yet available, so I figure the answer to this is "no," but, can we edit scenarios we play (add special units, etc.)?

5) Are all of the special units / rules used in scenarios that normally require them (sniper, mobile artillery, battleships, carriers, elite units, different nationalities, partisans, etc.)?

I think that's it for now.

Thanks for any help,

Chris Buhl

Hello Fatgreta,

Welcome the The Game.
I have a couple of answers for you :

1) Yes, when you are playing, just click on the "I"-button (upper left corner)
2) Not yet (I hope they will follow soon)
3) Not yet (I hope they will follow soon)
4) Not yet (I hope ... )
5) Yes : just right-click on any unit/hex and you'll get all the info and rules you need.

I'll try to remember you name ; you try to remember mine. If we are both on-line, I'll gladly help you out.

I hope to see you on the Battlefield.

2) We have standard-size scenarios from the Eastern, Pacific, and Mediterranean expansions. In addition to no Airpack, there are no Winter Wars, Terrain Pack, Campaign Book, or Battlemaps.

5) The scenarios have everything they're supposed to have, based on the original (non-Airpack) versions. None of the current scenarios use carriers, and I believe none of them use destroyers.

I'm with you on number one. Being a newcomer to the game, I don't know the scenarios or the rules behind them.

The only way I've come up with to read the scenario text before you make a game is to do it in solo mode. Just hit the X instead of playing against Johnny when you're done reading.

That's a great tip, thanks!

By the way, if you're interested in a multi-player Overlord game in the nearer future, I'll be hosting one on Vassal next Saturday. Details and signup at http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/msg/?goto=220394#msg_220394 in the regular Memoir Forum.
