Memoir '44 Editor 1.1.4 is available Wed, 06 July 2011 16:45
Dear Memoir '44 Players:

We are happy to announce version 1.1.4 of the Memoir '44 Scenario Editor.

This version brings an important fix in the printing area: in some cases, fonts could be wrong when printing scenarios, with Times being used instead of Army and GunPlay.

This version is also the one to use to publish your own scenarios in Memoir '44 Online 1.1. Make sure you read the release notes on http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/msg/?th=22800&start=0

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT UPGRADING:

In some situations, the automatic upgrade will not work properly or produce a non-working version of the Editor (especially on Windows) Sad . So the easiest way it simply to uninstall your previous version (on Windows, go to the Control Panel > Add/remove Software and uninstall the Memoir '44 Editor). Then download and install the new version.

INSTALLATION

Go to http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/download/sed

Choose the Mac or Windows version, and launch the installer after download. Follow the instructions.

Make sure you upgrade, whether you use the online game or not.

Enjoy!

Yann

I have loaded the new software and it refuses to open, any ideas.

Computer : MAC
OS: OSX version10.5.8
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Java Version: Mac OS X Leopard comes with J2SE 5.0 preinstalled

The prior version ran fine....

I installed one just now and it went OK, I think I had to right-click and chose 'open' rather than double-clicking, but that may just be my PC.

Actually the number of Winter Straight Roads is 40 in WW and when you validate the layout, the word "unknown" is misspelled! Otherwise, thank you!

did anybody check the number of Terrain hexes in the Winter Wars expansion?

Yann any suggestions on what information I could give you that would help us get this program to operate.

- On your Mac, open the Terminal application that you will find in the Applications/Utilities folder.
- In the Terminal window, type very precisely (including all spaces and special characters - or better, copy/paste it):
/Applications/Memoir\ \'44\ Editor.app/Contents/MacOS/xulrunner -jsconsole
-This will start the application and do two things: open a "Console" window with some messages, and display some text messages in the Terminal window itself.
- Copy/paste in a text file (using TextEdit for example) everything that appeared in both locations: the console and the Terminal windows.
- Send us this text file using the Tech Support form: http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/contact/sublevel/?entry_id=23 6

Hopefully, looking at these messages will give us some idea of what's going on with your configuration.

Thanks in advance,

Yann

Well, my aging PowerMac G5 can't catch a break this week. It looks like the latest version of the editor is Intel only. I think that is the third Intel only "upgrade" that I've run into this week.

I won't go into the arguments around it, but worth mentioning to others that may still be on PowerPC.

I've got an old computer, I get it. Smile

New iMac here I come. I'm just glad DOW supports Macs!

Indeed Sad

To resolve the printing issue, we had to move to XUL Runner 2.0 (=Firefox 4.0), which is Intel-only.

The next version of Mac OS X (Lion) won't support PPC anymore (they will drop Rosetta)...

Yann, as it seems, the font / printing error issue has been settled. Many thanks for that! Occasionally, there is still a strange dividing bar showing up in places where it is not needed, but this can be avoided by changing the space between the Briefing / Victory Conditions / Special Rules sections, so it is only a minor nuisance. But allow me one final tiny piece of nitpicking: the month "February" ist still misspelled in the title line. Smile

Tiny bug I just found.
When Terrain Pack is chosen and you pick "Water" as terrain - three sided lakes are not visible as a choice, only 2 sided lakes.
