  CB vol. 1 old x new rules Sat, 28 January 2012 14:27
Hi folks, I would like ask about one thing. I'm goign to start my first campaign from CB vol. 1. I understand all the rules, but one thing comes to my mind. As all knows the CB was introduced before some newest additions so for some units/events there are old rules. Examples: What If dice rolls with Tigers - Tiger unit is represented by 4 tanks, SWA units with old rules (to year 1942, Normandy takes place in 1944 - new rules) and Smoke Screens (new rules for them in CB vol. 2).

So I would like to know if there is any official statement from DOW about this? For me it seems illogical play it with old rules when new ones overwrittes them, but wanna be sure. If there isnt any official word from DOW, how is your opinion? I was trying to find something, but fail.

I'm playing Battle for Normandy om vassal currently and we use late-war SWA rules as written in Winter Wars. Use late-war for all scenarios after 42.

Smoke screen I have always played like cb2, that's how i interpreted the rule in cb1.

Tigers instead of elite armor. I like Tigers, so go ahead if you agree beforehand.

You should also use the new position control rule from cb2.

I would agree with Stig Morten when it comes to your questions...play with the rules you prefer as long as both people agree. There is no official word on most of the things but you can always insert more recent rules where they are available. Cool

The key is to have fun, so don't worry about the rest! Very Happy
