Low print run syndrome?

I'm becoming quite frustrated with what the market will bear for out of print materials on e-bay. I'd really like to get the campaign book 1 and air pack, but I can't tap into Fort Knox the way people on ebay seem to be able...sigh. Are low print runs a chronic problem? How can a new guy dig into this hobby...it's deja vu just like OOP stuff for ASL.

I can't speak to the condition of e-bay or how much people will pay for Memoir '44 expansions, but I can explain a little bit about the OOP material.
The Air Pack has been out of print for a long time. When it was first released, it wasn't received with as much enthusiasm as I'm sure DoW expected but I think it's a fun addition to the system. A while ago it was announced that with the increase of material costs the Air Pack could not be reprinted for a reasonable price. It's very unlikely that this expansion will ever be reprinted...but luckily for you the Air Rules are available online and you can get yourself some cheap airplanes.
The Campaign Book Volume 1 has just recently gone out of print and I'm not sure why the cost on e-bay has jumped up so fast. It's possible that if there's enough demand for it DoW will decide to print this expansion again (it's just a book, a punch board, and some cards, so that might make it easier) but there's no way to know if or when it will be reprinted. The good news for you is that CB#2 does not require the first book, so you can get the second one now and then keep your eyes out for the other one.
The Battle Maps (pre-printed Overlord Maps) are also out of print but don't feel too bad. I'm hoping that a lot of these things are out of print to make room for a new wave of great new Memoir '44 expansions! And you'll be in on the ground level for all of them!

Seeing as I have a spare of each, I've decided to offer them up for auction...sorry, can't help what people bid but at least there's an opportunity to get them...I suspect they'll get harder to find and/or even more expensive.
Good luck in your search!

Yeah I'll be picking up CB2 soon. I appreciate that Air Pack rules are available, but what about all the scenario updates that came with the big booklet? I've got plenty of substitute minis I can use for planes...possibly much nicer than what came with the Air pack. Hopefully I'll find some obscure online store with CB1 still in stock...doubt it, but am still scouring the corners of www.

I saw your posting on ebay. I was about to place a bid, but then saw your shipping price was over $65!! Is that an error? That is nuts for shipping...please tell me that is an error!

Wow! I'm surprised at that myself...I obviously don't set the rates, Canada Post does. I've found and entered a cheaper post rate...but it's still over $40?! Crazy! Well...maybe some Canadian will finally get a campaign book...shipping is only $16 here.
Sorry folks. Good luck.

Jim,
I dropped by Game Empire in San Diego, they seemed receptive to hosting a group, but we need numbers. You know any folks you can arm twist to put together an overlord size group?

Probably a print on demand service is the most suitable/cost effective solution for both, the company and the customer.

Good deal! Great to know there are people in this for the good of the hobby and not just to make a quick buck! Very heartening indeed.
Does this mean you have the Air Pack now! If so, you'll have to bring this around to the Game Empire group.
P.S. We are up to 5 players (and I think I can wrangle a 6th out of a local ASL buddy)...any other San Diego area players??? G.E. hosts numerous hardcore miniatures gamers, it's sure not to disappoint!

Being very cost prohibitive, I've pulled these items from auction. Good luck everyone on finding a copy...too bad DoW isn't planning on reprints....maybe a PDF or print on demand?

Sorry to hear you had to pull the listing due to prohibitive shipping costs. I understand Canadian post is getting crazy.

When I first got into this game I boguth four of everything except the base game of which I bought six. I did this because I was afraid the game (as nice looking as it is) might disappear later on and then it would be hard for me to get the stuff released on ebay.
I know what its like to find out something has been cancelled and have to pay out the nose for it later. Well if I can help a few avoid that ...then that makes me happy.
I don't mind making a couple of extra bucks on stuff, but the highway robbery on ebay can be very disheartening to those who simply want to play and enjoy the game.
Anyways, I have other stuff that I will be offering up to those that couldnt get a shot and the prices will always be faire.
All I ask for those recieving good fortune with my good price is to pay it forward to someone else one day We don't have enough good vibes moving around out there so its up to you to make more
