At last....most of these troop types have been on my wish list since I first got into M44. Really excited about this expansion and it is good to know that DOW have listened to the requests that have been on the forum......great job DOW.

I never had that problem with the AT guns. I guess I don't care if they spill over a bit.

I would like a better view of the troops (French Infantry, Finnish Ski Troops, and Polish Cavalry).
I am going buy the pack, just would like to know how they fit with my 1/72 collection.

I think everyone should be thankful for the expansions coming. Some people would not be satisfied if certain figures were colored sky blue pink. I think that DOW is doing a great job of supporting the Memoir '44 gaming system.
Thank you DOW

Hello,
long thread to go by... I'm guessing the hype is so big after the official announcement.
One thing I've noticed and not sure if others have asked yet...
No airplane minis included? Even the new Junkers-88 is missing in the photo...
Umm, that gives me hopes to see a 2nd edition of the long-awaited Air Pack! Even Mighter yet!!!

Yep, no airplanes are included in this expansion, as you can see by looking at the description. Who knows, maybe we'll see a new Air Pack, though I haven't ever heard of a plan for that from DoW...
One can always hope!!

This is awesome news and I have been waiting for something like this to come a long for awhile now. Finally I won't have to look through piles of little badges.
On a somewhat different note I wonder if DoW had this same thing planned for Battlelore. Release a couple of epic maps with miniatures then hit fans with a huge box of miniatures. What could have been if they survived the wave of complaints. Oh well.

maybe because italian arty has different rules for being _italian_. The other listed arty types will have different rules because of the different type.

Quite big? I think that might be an understatement! Looking at army sizes, casualty estimates, land covered, length and ferocity of battles, and material used, there was no theater like the Eastern Front.
Sadly our western education systems (which I am a part of, as a teacher) focus on the western theater where our men were fighting and dying, instead of looking at a global view, but in the end the Germans lost much more in the east...
I don't think the decision about including the Italians in the Equipment Pack had anything to do with where the company is based. If that were the case the French Army would have received its own expansion instead of also being included in the Equipment Pack!

What are the special rules?
Why would that be a reason not to sum them up with the rest of the special artillery? All those artillery units also have special rules in comparison to 'normal' artillery?
It's not a big deal, but I was just wondering if the Italian artillery is maybe falling in another category than the other special artillery... Hmm, It's a bit difficult to explain my question in English

The Hobart's Funnies accessories can be used to clear minefields, cross rivers, ignore trenches, beaches, wire or marshes, blow up bunkers with 290 mm shells, etc.

So basically the mini's will behave exactly like the real things did 68 years ago!! I love this game!
|
its even better than that. The base vehicle is a churchill tank, so we now have a british tank that fought in the Western theatre! THat means DoW have moulds for churchills!
Now since you have the moulds for a churchill, how about a full set so we can play the brits in Normandy with British tanks

My take.
Good idea of an equipment pack.
What I like:
The inclusion of the pieces in the various battlemaps - I already have those but it is nice to know that those who did not get a chance to acquire these the first time around can do so now.
Polish Cav and Finnish ski troops, snipers TDs and mobile Arty - it will add that eye candy flavor to those scenarios that use those troops.
The various arty pcs - however it would have been nice to have replaced the brittle US and Ger arty (really AT guns) in the base game.
and what I am lukewarm about:
I am somewhat disappointed that it looks like there will not be full blown Army Packs for either the Italians and French (in their own colors). So instead we get Fr Inf with no arty or armor and just It arty with no inf or armor.
I will have to see the rules and scenarios for the funnies to see how excited I get about them.
The landing craft do not seem that necessary.
That is not to say that I will not be buying this product and certainly welcome this expansion. Hey, who cannot use more toys But it seems like it could have been a bit better - IMO.

Few questions, hope they're not too stupid:
1. Why are there 12 Italian artillery pieces? Is there any reason for that huge number? They sure look great, but I don't quite grasp the point.
2. On the photo there are no Long Toms. True/false?
3. If the both sides have, say, one unit of mobile artillery, what's your idea of distinguishing those? Probably we all here agree that we should precisely distinguish before we extinguish
4. Does this applying the same type of unit to all nations mean that we'll be now replacing the Soviet late war heavy tanks (and other nations' too, probably) with the Tigers?
This last one doesn't bother me too much 'cause I painted my TitS Tigers in German color so these albino ones can be freely used by others...

Tut tut no imagination. The early churchills ahd a howitzer gund in the hull, so stick a bit of plastic in the hole and you've got an early churchill.

More seriously, if there is a mould, making some without the hole in it wont be a big problem, I'm more worried about the fascine on the back

Sorry to change the subject a little bit away from the Churchill tanks...everyone can go back to speculating in a second...but does anyone else like the artwork on the box cover?!
When I look at that box, it just makes me smile!! It would be so cool to have a poster of each Memoir '44 box, but this cover might be my favorite so far! I can't wait to see it sitting on my shelf next to the base game.
Ok, back to the figures...sorry for the distraction!

Exactly !!!
I'm surprised no one has broken out with the old
' these kids today have no imagination... ' speech.
But seriously, didn't Eric or someone say years ago under the M'44 or Battlelore subject, Days of Wonder is a gaming company NOT a miniatures company ??
I can't imagine DoW making all these different nations/colors - tank destroyers, mobile arty, SWA's , Guns, Infantry and different Tank classes for different nations ..
It would never stop ..!
That's why I believe they came up with the off-white fig's. !!!!!
And Mr. B seems to be a little busy with other 'works' to be coming up with rules for all this 'variety' demanded.
It's really nice we (finally) have this set coming.
I look forward to having many hours of enjoyment with the figures (instead of labeling chits) this set offers ....
And if some figs. and rules trickle out later, so much the better.

Can't think of 25 old rules/units so I suppose the summary cards are also for the new units. but 25?????
The only I can think of are some cards for the CB2 expension (jungle fighters) and some for the new units (Nebelwerfer, Funnies and accessories , Kubelwagen)
So also some new rules perhaps?? Or what do I forget here??

I agree, it's a good cover. But I can't find the sniper. I hope there is one somewhere in there.
All this talk of helmets for the British and such grumblings just made me want to use those figures, so I soloes Capture of Tobruk tonight, with unpainted minis and an unprotected map. Germans won.
A very good scenario.

The "Hobart Funnies" would appear to be Churchill AVRE tanks.
| Churchill AVRE | A Churchill III or IV equipped with the Petard, a 290 mm Spigot mortar, throwing the 40 lb (18 kg) "Flying dustbin" with its 28 pound high explosive warhead; a weapon designed for the quick levelling of fortifications developed by MD1.
The petard was reloaded by traversing the turret to the co-driver's hatch. The co-driver then breaks down open the petard barrel and pushes the petard round into the barrel and then closes it. The co-driver's hands are briefly exposed during the process.
The AVRE was designed after the Canadian defeat at Dieppe, and could also be equipped with numerous other attachments, such as mine flails, fascine rollers, explosive placers etc.
The crew of six were drawn from the Royal Engineers, except for the driver who came from the Royal Armoured Corps. One of the RE crew was a demolitions NCO sapper responsible for priming the "Flying dustbin" and who led the crew when they dismounted from the tank to place demolition charges ("Wade" charges).
