Editing of the Equipment Pack Sat, 09 June 2012 18:23
Very hard to tell from the available images but it looks like the Italians are wearing the same helmets as the British... Who were produced wearing Italian helmets... Nope, I haven't forgotten that.

So this leads me to ask did DoW hire someone who has a little interest in WWII to sculpt the figures or proof the final miniatures? It is amazing the information one can garner from reenactment sites on the Internet... Or Osprey books

I can't tell how the French or Polish units look but have hopes that they'll have some semblance to their historical counterparts.

I am expecting the usual corrections for scenarios and campaigns but hope for the higher price tag to have better editing... Still planning on buying two sets... I'd just like to grumble less about the errors we will encounter.

Isn't grumbling one of the things that set humans appart from animals?! Razz Laughing

There's bound to be some grumbling...I think there is always going to be something that somebody would have liked different! Cool

The British are wearing Pith Helmets, the where issued when the debarked in Egypt in 1940. . . and very quickly tossed aside in favour of the traditional Tin Hat. Rolling Eyes

As compared with fans of other war games, who have nothing to grumble about?! Laughing I think grumbling just comes with the territory. Razz

Way back a while ago, people were grumbling because the German armor has too few (or too many, I don't remember) little wheels in the treads. People were unhappy with the base game artillery, the Russian figures are bigger than the others, the Japanese figures are made out of harder plastic than the base game, the air pack didn't include favorite planes, etc.

The point is not that DoW makes mistakes with every expansion they create, the point is that no matter what a company does there are going to be some people who are not 100% happy with it. I imagine that other war games face the same kind of thing every time they release an expansion, though I don't know.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I don't mean to downplay concerns that people have, but simply observe that there was bound to be something 'wrong' with the expansion in some way.

Personally, I'm not bothered by the minor mistakes. None of them have been major enough to take away any of the fun that I have with the game. It's a game, and the most enjoyable game I've found so far! Cool I understand that others may feel differently, and that's fine. I hope if there are mistakes that they don't detract too much from the potential fun that can be had. Very Happy

My other wargame is Warhammer, you should hear the whining, discussions, grumbles and near flame wars every time they issue something. We Memoir'44 fans are a quiet lot Very Happy

Laughing Laughing Maybe it's the type of people attracted to wargames, but it seems that emotions run hot with us! Very Happy

So I guess it does come with the territory and we shouldn't be surprised to hear complaints. Cool

Is not Warhammer based on fantasy? How can there be so much controversy about imaginary things?

Because everybody own its private and personal imaginary world in his brain. That's why there is so much controversy, even for a world based on fantasy.

I really don't care about the British helmets, or the number of road wheels on the tank, this is a board game with miniatures. Like the old Axis and Allies board game, which we never complained about. I know though, that some people like to think of M44 as a miniatures game, and that's fine. But I just wanted to say that I'm fine with it as is. I think the miniatures look cool enough despite not being perfect. Thanks DoW!!!

As far as I'm concerned the British figures ARE wearing the correct helmets. They are not wearing Brodie helmets from the early war. They are wearing MK III helmets.

For reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mk_III_helmet

Afterall, the game is Memoir '44 not Memoir '41 and although the British figures were released with the Med. expansion, the game is abstract and the figures do have to span the entire war. Better yet, the Mk. III provides much better protection for my plastic friends, so I am quite happy. Laughing

well its a nice looking pack DOW seem to be doing a good job for you guys i like to have a lurk every now and then but as a brit i am sick of the Tommies being stuck in the desert in every board game a Europe campaign battledress brit army is a must for me

the iconic thing about the brits in the desert are the helmets and them 17 inch "fritz stickers"(cant spell bay'o'net) both of which the brit figs don't have Rolling Eyes

My sentiments exactly. Just as the scenarios and scale of this game are purposely abstract in order to allow for greater flexibility and ease of play, so, too, are the miniatures abstract. They're meant to be basic representations of a wide variety of troops, not perfect replicas. I'm okay with that. Heck, I'd even be okay is generic models were used across the whole line.
