So, has anyone ever done an "overlord" game with two breakthrough maps?
Just wondering if there is anything special to keep in mind.
Thanks in advance.

I've heard of a few people who played "Breaklord" battles and lived to tell the tale!!
I imagine they can tell you more details but I do know that it takes a really long time to set up and play...other than that I'm not sure.

I was just thinking of say doing the gold juno sword landings.
It would look intense. I think it might also be a great game.

It would take two sets of everything involved...but if you have the gear and the time to do it I would say, "Go for it!!"
And post pictures so the rest of us can live vicariously through your "Lord Overbreak" battle! Hmmm, that last one doesn't work very well.

Maybe "Breakdown Overload"
this would be way too much of a good thing for me.

Here is a picture of a breaklord in progress.
http://www.m44club.be/Club_Belge_de_Memoire_44/Images/Pages/ 29_juin.html#4
One player of our club has every expansion twice, all painted and small magnets mounted in the bases of the units so that he can put them on small metal square plates to move all figures of a unit at once.
His prefered format is breaklord and he has some scenarios designed.
They play with 2 decks of breakthrough command cards and 4 players. They have implemented rules for turn order, etc ...
The main "problem" is the time it takes. To play but also to set up. Breakthrough takes longer than basic memoir. Overlord takes longer than basic memoir. Breaklord takes MUCH MUCH longer.
So you really need to play with the breakthrough card deck to get more movement, and that does not allow for the typical overlord with 8 (or 6) players.
To give an idea of the time it takes: they generally play 1 game in a whole evening (about 4 hours), while we play 2 overlord games and 2 regular games in the same time.

This is the perfect way to explain to all of us how long the Breaklord battle takes! Brilliant!!
My wife and I live in Abu Dhabi right now and we've gotten used to talking about temperature in celsius...but when our family asks how hot it is, telling them that it's going to be 40 degrees sounds cold to them, even if we remind them we're talking about celsius. It isn't until we say, "That's about 104 degrees fahrenheit." that we get the "Oh, wow!!" statements.
That's kind of how I see this perfect answer. If Quit2 had said, "It takes about this many hours." We would have all thought to ourselves, "Hm, that is pretty long." But when he puts it in terms of how many regular and Overlord battles the rest of the group can finish in the same amount of time...suddenly it makes sense to us!! I love it!

JDRommel produced a Tunisia scenario for the "BreakLord" format. The two Breakthrough maps are listed seperately.

I like the idea of combining the two formats. Sadly I don't have the real estate for it in my toy soldier version...that would be 12'x8'ish...I don't think I would be able to reach certain parts of the table.
I am a huge fan of the Overlord concept...but would like a little more depth than the 9 hexes. I have experimented using the Overlord deck with the standard Breakthrough board concept, with some modifications. I liked the way it played.
I really do want to like Breakthrough more...but it just can't quite get to the Overlord feel...in my book at least.

Operation Market Garden Battle Map is now declassified.

It has 11 rows instead of 9, but the editor doesn't show the bottom 2 rows. I've added the bottom 3 rows for people here in a SFTF.
