when you have maps Overlord in online mode??? Thu, 26 July 2012 20:07
Hello memoir players.

Do you know if just doing?.

Saludos.

Hola !

We won't know if they are working on this until they are ready to release it, this is the company's policy. I for one hope this is indeed in the works.

At this point, not only we do not know what is on the works, we don't even know if anything at all is being developed. There is no information.

Memoir Overlord is available on Vassal. www.vassalengine.org

In fact, I'll be running a multi-player game there some time in August.

It is a shame .. With memoir overlord 4 player online game community would increase greatly.

Let's hope they take into account future.

For those who know how to look for it, there is information available.
If you check out the officers career for EricB, a test-user, you can see that he performed some tests on an overlord map in 2011.
But that's a long time ago ... so it either means they have stopped that for now and gave priority to other things, like the equipment pack, or it takes longer than we think.
To be honest: overloard means allowing more than 2 players to a game, it means developing a new deck of comand cards with all their specifications like sections cards can be played over two sections, etc ...
In the early days of the online game, all the people who joined knew they were joining a test game. It was well known that not everything would work. Now people who join, join a full functioning game, so if they release a new version with overlord, it has to be relatively bug free. That is alot of work. On top of that, testing is more costly, because you need 8 persons to test one game.

There is no information in the sense that last DoW's announcement was 6 months ago and nowhere we can know if this game is under development at this point or not, Wim.

DoW could just say "We're happy with this product at this stage. Further development may be considered or not in the future, there is no way for us to know yet."; or, "We are working on feature X"; or, "We intend to bring feature Y to the game, we're just not ready to start yet"; or, "We'll get there, we're working on it, at our own pace".
Any information about DoW's intentions would be nice, in my perspective, even if they call this product done, I would keep playing gladly. It's just the lack of feedback and information that I don't think is beneficial to (a part of) the community of players - not to mention lack of feedback over the Feature Request Log, or concerning Bug reports.

QFT

Just an idea of whether they have abandoned Memoir44 online or if they are just busy would be really nice.

I agree. It would be nice to know what the plan is or if they are finished with the M44 Online product.

You have the Air Pack, Breakthrough and Overlord that could be added. I would like to see them developed in that order as well.

Breakthrough with 2 players should, imho, be relatively easy to implement. The logic for the breakthrough card deck might be harder/longer to implement and test.
The games would be generally be longer and therefore replay information would take more storage.

Would you pay four or five GI for a breakthrough game?

Mulitplayer overlord might be harder to implement, with more rules and conditions . What would you pay overlord?

I think, that while overlord would be costly to implement, it would also bring in alot of revenue. You would have 8 players each pay some GI.
Even if you only ask for 3 GI per player, DOWwould still get 24 GI for one game. That is 4 or 6 times as much as for a regular game.
And for overlord, replay information would not take too much storage. I cannot imagine one overlord game taking more space than 4 regular games.

DoW doesn't usually discuss their long-term plans for products, but I don't think they are finished with Memoir '44 Online. I would bet that we'll see Breakthrough battles eventually (if I remember right, there were breakthrough battles in Expert mode early on in the testing).

I look forward to what the future will bring for Memoir '44 online! Cool

That's what I thought! So the ability is there...it's just a question of when it becomes available for all of us to use. Smile

I believe that DoW has not reached the end of what they want to do with Memoir '44 online, though that's just my opinion. Razz

I'm not sure exactly what we'll see (Overlord, Breakthrough, Campaigns, Air Pack, etc) or when we might see it, but I think there's still lots of things that can be developed further...and will eventually be added to the game. Smile Again, that is just my opinion and not 'inside information' at all! Cool

I would pay 5 or 6 GI for a Breakthrough game. Because its about twice as long as a standard. Prices for games are very, very reasonable anyway.

> definitely the breakthrough deck should be used. (on the move) cards really make the game play better.
