New Player - Hunting Down Expansions. Help! Wed, 05 December 2012 10:01
Hello all.

So, having spent the last two years flirting with the idea of Memoir, I finally took the plunge a few weeks ago and boy am I not regretting it!

What I AM regretting is waiting for so long as some of the expansions are STUPIDLY hard to get hold of in England! The Air Pack and Campaign Book volume 1 in particular are ridiculously expensive to get hold of here (Both are priced at over £100 each when they do appear). Of course this makes me nervous ref all the other expansions and I am buying them all up as soon as I can but I would REALLY like to get hold of AP and CB 1.

Just thought I wold throw it out on here and see if there is any chance that maybe people have spare copies gathering dust, or know of anywhere I may not have checked already.

Also, any suggestions for places in the UK to attend for tournaments?

Cheers all

Welcome to the dark side!! Very Happy This is my favorite board game ever, and it's wonderful to welcome another player into the system.

If you haven't already tried it, you should check out the Memoir '44 Online system. It's a great place to practice some strategy and test the rules for expansions before you buy them. You even get about 20 free games!

These are hard to find anywhere, so you aren't alone in the search. I imagine lots of people would be happy to see those expansions reprinted, but we don't have any idea if or when that might happen. If the demand is high enough then maybe it will happen. Smile

Good luck in your search and in finding some tournaments in England. I know there are some great ones over in France if you're willing to travel, but there are also some great players in England. Maybe you guys can start your own tournament system over there! Cool

Welcome again, and let us know if you have any other questions. I think you'll find that this is a very friendly forum!!

Thanks Rasmussen! I already downloaded your reference guide so I know how well versed/addicted you are Smile

Yeah, to be honest I really do wish that I had bought a copy of the game back when I first started looking into it about two and a half years ago, but if wishes were fishes and all that jazz Wink I am sort of negotiating on a copy of both those expansions at the moment, but as it stands a bit rich for me given current budget restraints.

I was lucky with the base game itself, having picked up the base game, the campaign bag, the OL pack and the Eastern Front - all in complete and mint condition - for £35 at a bring and buy! I have since bought up the terrain pack and have the Mediterranean, Pacific and Desert/Winter Board packs on order from DoW (thanks 10% discount!) Just have to keep digging I suppose!

There is a local board game shop that I know runs lots of game nights and stocks the game so hopefully I will get some games in there. Have already downloaded the online game and that itself is very addictive!

Have been into wargaming and boardgaming for many years, but I can tell this is going to be one that hooks me in for a LONG time. I look forward to getting to know everyone around here Smile

Just keep checking Ebay. To my delight, I found the Campaign Book Volume 1 for $49 free shipping and I bought it right away. They had 2 and I bought 1. And then quickly came over here and posted there was still one available. It went in a matter of an hour.

And they worth the money they cost! Specifically the CB#1.

Actually the Air Pack Rule/Scenario booklet. It doesn't include terrain tiles, airplanes, cards, badges etc.

Thanks guys, I have already downloaded, printed and bound my CB1 Smile

As to the Air Pack, I would rather get the 'hard copy' as I want all the contents, esp the cards.

Just keep hunting I guess.....

Wish luck to everbody who is looking for the oop expansions. I ve been playing mm44 for one year. I had luck. Winter Wars was already in print. A found a last copy of CB1 at my local gamesstore. And an airpack at the Amazon Marketplace for only 30¤. Desasters at Dippe can you buy for 15¤ at amazon.fr. Shipping to Germany was 2¤ or something like this. I am still looking for Tigers and Hedgerow. I am not a collector. I just want to play. I will never pay more then double for an expansion. It needs time. But open your eyes and you will find.

Yeah, the cards are the most valuable part of the expansion... the revised scenarios are nice too though.

Hopefully, someday DoW will sell the whole set of Summary Cards in the webstore.
