Great idea!
I'll go first:
Hello from Denmark.
General Info: History teacher, RPG gamer, and American Football fan.
Playing style: Fast and aggressive. Viking blood...
SFTF: I love to playtest and critique your scenarios, so invite away.
Memoir 44 Boardgame: Played it since it came out in 2004.
Other notes: Can be very chatty when playing. Just tell me to shut up if you want to concentrate on the game

Hello from Forest, Virginia USA
I am a retired professional firefighter of almost 28 years and am currently the Operations Manager of the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA. I have had an interest in the military for many years as my grandfather, father, uncles, brother and many close friends have been in service to our nation.
| stevens wrote on Thu, 30 September 2010 07:12 | On June 6, 1944, 32 men from Bedford, Virginia in company with approximately 150 other men from other areas of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and even Washington D.C. assaulted the beaches of Normandy. They were Company A of the 116 RCT, 29th Division. They were in the first assault wave at Omaha Beach at the Dog Green sector.
http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/editor/view/?id=11
Their rendezvous point was Vierville sur mer. Their mission was to clear the beach, move up through the D-1 draw and capture the village of Vierville. From here the would consolidate and with other members of their battalion steadily move inland by the end of the day. This didn't happen.
Company A was one of the few units to come in at the right place at the right time at 0630 hours. However, in the next 15 minutes, that unit suffered 93% casualties. With over 90 men killed and 60+ more wounded, Company A was out of action. Several of the men from Bedford were brothers, the Hoback's, the Parker's and the Stevens' boys. Of these 6 men, only one survived, Roy Stevens.
Roy's assault boat hit a barrier device or some other object penetrated the hull of his LCA while he was still several hundred yards out. The craft was taking on water, the men were bailing, but they never made it to shore. He lost a few buddies and was rescued after several hours in the cold and choppy channel. He was returned to England and refitted for duty. He returned to Normandy only to find that his brother and 18 other men from Bedford were all killed on D-Day. This loss of 19 men from one small farming community on D-Day was the highest per capita loss from any one unit from the United States on D-Day. In the months to follow, the cost would would soon become apparent.

Before Roy passed away on January 1, 2007 he had made many friends. I was one of them. In order to honor Roy, and his brother Ray and all the other men from Bedford, VA, I chose this moniker. It is Roy's photo that you see as my avatar.

I am not new to M44 (thought not heavily experienced) but am new to online. I've just played two scenarios, won one and lost one against AI. Will do a couple of more before taking a chance on wasting somebody else's ingots by playing me.
I am 61 and am the sports editor of my hometown newspaper in Indiana. I have been in sports at that paper for 30 years this Feb. I like reading and like fantasy as well as military topics.

Nice ! Seems that it's a lean towards every player introduction, not only newcomers,
Here goes
Hello all,
My name is Mathieu and I'm a french player (DoW fan since '03) got the board game in '04 but alas I missed the beta so I joined around Dday 2011.
I live in France and am engaged to a wonderful girl who likes board games too
I have moved a lot in the past few years and changes jobs frequently (assistant producer, cameraman, factory employee, kindergarten teacher in training) but now I'm finally settling in near Paris and am working as a video technician in a brand new TV channel owned by the Qatar (you guys in the US and UK also have a channel with that name)
Alas for the moment the job is time consuming so no time to play even online.

My name is Josiah and I've been a fan of Memior 44' ever since I recieved it two or three years ago at Christmas. Since then I have collected about half of the expansion sets, and I can only wish I had the money to buy the rest (some are quite spendy due to their being out of print). I usually play with my dad or friends, many of whom are avid strategy gamers.
I particiated in the end of the Beta for Memoir 44' online and have played quite a few battles, though recently I've taken a leave of absence due to my college education taking up a lot of time. However, now that Christmas break is comming up I might be able to meet some of you on the battlefield!
I love playing board games (many of which are from DoW)and strategy computer games. Other than board games, I read in my spare time or spend time with my family (parents and three sisters).

Hi:
I have retired from INVISTA (formerly DuPont)but still work occasionally at the plant in Kingston Ontario. I live on Hambly Lake hence the handle and have played wargames since I was 16. I love Memoir 44 because it is a mix of miniatures and board gaming and do like the online feature as fellow combatants are few and far between in this neck of the woods.
I have been playing in the weeds lately (against the AI) but will join in online battles again as I see there are some new scenarios.
Take care and a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year to all.

Hi, my player name Dietrich von Kleist is a germanification of my Flemish name. I live in Flanders, that is the Dutch speaking northern part of Belgium. My avatar is Hans Landa; However he's a real bastard he is a very intriguing and in a way funny character in de movie Inglorious Bastards.
I love posting visual jokes on the forum, but every now and then these jokes seem to be controversial. Believe me guys, they are never intended to be insulting! It shows that sometimes there is a big difference between American and European humor.
I like both the cardboard and digital version of the game. But what I like the most is the "international community of brothers in arms". Players from the USA, Iceland, Germany, ... even Holland who give each other advise or blather about the most diverse subjects.
To those guys I would like to address my best wishes for the next battle year 2013! In contrast with the real thing I hope this war will not end soon. Cheers!

Hey,
Just like Dietrich von Kleist in changed my nick name in a germanification of my real name.
I also live in the flemish part of Belgium.
I love the community, for it's good advise jokes and so on.
The only thing i want is to change my avatar into a german figure i painted, but i won't succed to realise it.
Maybe Dietrich could help me, while is such a crack in manipulating pictures.
Good games in 2013.

The "Change my Avatar" webpage states Select a personal avatar that will appear next to your Forum posts, PM's and in your friends' Buddy Lists. Choose from among hundreds of game characters and graphics in the Built In list, or upload your own graphic.
The custom avatar will not appear until it is approved by the administrator.
The avatar should be no larger than 100x100 pixels and must be in jpg, gif or png format.
Hope this answers your questions.

Hi folks, thought I would add my hello. I've just joined the community and just started playing the game. I bought DoW Small World (excellent game!) at Christmas for the family and picked up on Memoir from there.
I was a keen gamer back in the 1980's, I do believe I've still got a copy of Victory Games Ambush in the attic! So it's a bit like coming back into the fold for me.
First impressions of the game? Very playable! Reminds me of Steve Jackson Games Ogre/GEV in a way. The card system and three divisions on the board took me by surprise but it works well. At first I thought there was too much of an element of luck but as I've played a few games the more elegant aspects of the game are becoming clear.
Funny thing but I like the way the whole battle can turn on a killer card.
Downsides? Nothing major. Could be a bit more objective driven rather than just beat up your enemy (and whats wrong with that anyway!) but its not going to stop me playing.
Looking forward to getting my first pips and seeing you out there in the field.
