I have a humble request when The Final is getting closer regarding whoever meets UEG.
I don't want a rerun of the final where TRUE lost with a forfeit
So please TD:
please inform about deadlines and what happens if forfeit
Also: please don't book 2 matches at the same time

I have no problem with liberal interpretations of deadlines, as long as people take some effort to get things planned and not start messaging the day before. Rules are there to slap unreasonable people in the face, not to be followed slavishly.
Would be nice if the final can be played on a single saturday or sunday or something similar though.

If semi gets ready today, we could try to play (or most of) the final on sunday, 16th yet (did not ask my guys yet, but there's a chance).
If not there, i guess, it will be more difficult the next weekend directly before Xmas.
I'll ask my players if there's a chance on 1 or 2 days for the final....

I again propose to fix slots, when ur players can play. For example
slot 1 starts friday 8-9 pm
slot 2 starts saturday 6-7 pm
slot 3 starts saturday 8-10 pm
slot 4 starts sunday 8-10 pm
So u can arrange ur players on days, when they are able to play. No big discussion after it. It worked really good with CAT in 2010.

i know that 3 of 5 of us (including the tiebreaker) could play the weekend before xmas....the other 2 going to tell me soon.

ok,
seems to be difficult....let's try weekend + friday, maybe there's a solution
gsv : büli could then only be played sun evening as gsv is not available fri. and sat. (büli is available all the evenings, fr, sat, sun)
goscha has to work the weekend (=not available)...could olof play friday as well??
what about kos and sven....??
maybe they'll try friday 21 and/or sunday 23
for me : geoff:
i'm not available tuesday and thursday eve, the rest of the evenings and weekend it's managable....
for tiebreaker:
if necessary would be nice if this game starts not later then about 22.00 cet on sunday, i guess....who plays from WASA? from our side this would be possible.

so maybe:
olof:goscha friday 19/20.00

I can Tuesday start 17-20
Thursday start 10-14
Friday start 1030-1530
I can start my match on Saturday 1000-1600

There is no such rule, no matter how many capitals and exclamation marks you use, nor has there been a vote or anything similar. In fact there isn't even a deadline, but I'm sure the 9 players will come up with something decent.

There is no problem by now....i think all those players confirmed the dates:
kostass : sven friday ca. 21.30
geoff : tom sunday 18.00
GSV : xbomanx sunday 20.00
and if needed, tiebreaker:
kostass: chris sunday ca. 22.00
so, last open game is olof : goscha is hopefully scheduled for friday or earlier....

I have experiences with scheduling 2 finals, one with fixed slots against CAT, scheduling totally easy, and one with UKB last year, very difficult. Fixed slots should be proposals. Having 4 slots, chances are really good, that u have one good solution for all of ur 4 players. If there's one player, who cannot use one of those 4, u can change the play time for this slot in agreement with the opps Cap BEFORE u send ur line-ups.
And Tom, this is no criticism on urs or Vincents work. Its just a proposal after my experiences. What could u both do without a rule? After all we (TuS and UKB) had the same problems last year. Why don't use these experiences????
To Miguel: In Round Robin we have many more games, good that they are shared all over the week, fixed slots would be nonsense. But it would be nice to avoid finals on tuesday mornings, when nobody watches these games. Avoid them, if not necessary.
Thx truck, for explaining me, that there is no rule. Perhaps my english is too rusty, cause I only use it on holidays or in ttr, to make clear, that that is the reason, WHY I post it. This will be my last post to this theme. To my other posts there was not one reaction, sometimes I thought, my post can't be read.... It's a democracy. If more people want difficult scheduling, we leave it as it is. But it wouldn't be necessary.

Once again let me confirm that I agree with Kasi.
Scheduling is a lot easier if you agree on times per slot beforehand.
Differences to round robin and also the other knockout stages are:
*) More people want to watch, so it's a good idea to have "good times"
*) Some teams may have a strategy in which order they would like the matches to be played.
With agreed times per slot that's easy - you want your best player to play the last match? Put him on slot #4.
If somebody tries to achieve that with "the normal way", he will delay the process by only offering times to his opp after all the other matches have an agreed date. This is a) not nice and b) will produce a deadlock if the opp's captain has the same (secret) target for another match.
Correct, there never was a vote on that, but I think there should be.
As long as the teams reaching the final get along well, let them do what they want (this year they do, so all is fine).
But I'd like to have the right to ask for pre arranged slot times if I ever make it to a final again.
I suggest a vote as followes:
Shall the playing times per slot be agreed by the captains before the lineup for the final is sent to the TD?
A) YES, always
B) YES, if one of the two captains asks for it
C) NO (if both teams like it, they can of course still do it)

I agree with Tom. Up2now, there is no issue, but we still need to find a slot for Olof/Goscha.
That's the way how we have proceeded:
Week-End 15-16 DEC was irrealistic to make agreements.
So we decided to play on 22-23.
Slot 1 : Sat 22, 18:00
Slot 2 : Sat 22, 20:00
Slot 3 : Sun 23, 18:00
Slot 4 : Sun 23, 20:00
Slot 5 : Sun 23, 22:00 (tie-break if needed)
Was not possible for Goscha.
So we decided to play on 21 and 23.
Slot 1 : Fri 21, 18:00
Slot 2 : Fri 21, 20:00
Slot 3 : Sun 23, 18:00
Slot 4 : Sun 23, 20:00
Slot 5 : Sun 23, 22:00 (tie-break if needed)
Possible, except for Olof.
In fact, this is exactly the same as you proposed to add in a specific rule.
When there are 2 motivated captains, it should be possible to find a solution. But, they need some time to arrange it.
For the moment, we have:
Slot 1 : Olof/Goscha ???
Slot 2 : Kostas/Sven Fri 21, 21:30
Slot 3 : Geoff/Tom Sun 23, 18:00
Slot 4 : GSV/Büli Sun 23, 20:00
Slot 5 : Kostas/Chris Sun 23, 22:00 (tie-break if needed)
