Add bbandccrock to the list of players that do that. He also started insulting me when he was back in the game, who knows how long that kept going (I put him on ignore so I didn't have to see any more of it -- I suggest the courtesy of telling the person you are doing that when you do, it has the double effect of maybe making them realize sooner that their little tantrum is happening in a vaccuum).

Surprising to be, he is a player who's been around & ranked highly, I guess I would have thought him/her more mature. It's happened to me a couple times before over the years, but never from a player that I recognized.

So, I can definitely relate. But, like rasmussen81 said, the nice thing is that using ignore means you probably will never have to deal with them again.

p.s. the humorous thing (to me) about this is that he is apparently making all this effort to be there to jump back in before the bot plays. while meanwhile I just have the game minimized, and don't even pay attention until I hear the whistle to tell me it's my turn. So, piece of advise to anyone facing an immature player like this, if you are not going anywhere anyway, just go do something else until you hear the whistle.

I get that probably more often than most of you and i usually point out to anyone trying this tactic, that it is mentioned explicitly in the Terms of Use as being a possible reason for losing their account.
It usually results in them just leaving .........
After that of course i add them to the Ignore list Bored

Fair play in Online Play
By joining any of Days of Wonder's Online games, you agree to exercise constant fair play vis a vis your fellow players. Any player found voluntarily quitting an online game before its normal completion, using stalling tactics to induce others to forfeit, or using foul or obscene language, will face, at Days of Wonder's sole discretion: the freezing of their online account, resetting of their ranking and/or permanent removal of player privileges.

I like the idea of showing the player this policy! Maybe it should be a standard response to players who are trying to delay the game until the other person quits. Smile

There should be abandon rules, or the ability to not accept people who leave a game and come back constantly. While 'kicking' option could just lead to people kicking others so they win, the denial of access after a player has rejoined a game multiple times would remove this problem.

Either way, something needs to be done aside from the 'report this player'. while i've reported a player in the past for this, i feel there should be a way we can counteract people deliberately trying to be jerks to win a game.

Yeah, we tried that. The guy was using all sorts of profanity. It does not bother me, but in an online game it is completely unnecessary and you have no idea who you are playing against. I finally convinced all the other players to place him on ignore so we would not have to "listen" to him. He then proceeded to delay the game. It ws a tough game. He was a major PIA.
