Ticket to Ride: The Emerald City Wed, 15 August 2012 10:23
My wife and I live in Seattle and are avid TTR fans. So I took it upon myself to make the best of both worlds.

I present: Ticket to Ride: The Emerald City! Very Happy

Though scaling down a train game to city-size doesn't make a ton of sense, it actually works really well for Seattle because the topography is so interesting that the board is naturally diverse. And incredibly crowded - this game will be HARD with 5 players.

Added two new route types for this variant: Drawbridges and Toll Roads.
Drawbridges behave similarly to tunnels - except when you get a face-up in the 3 draw, the bridge goes "up" and STAYS up for several turns, and can't be claimed by anybody for that time. Tolls are another tunnel variant - but instead of drawing cards for the length, the length is determined at the beginning of the game for everybody by a dice roll.

Should be interesting. Laughing

With my hands covered in glue, I finally just finished printing and making the board - and the tickets should be arriving shortly! So close I can taste it!

It's been many long hours of work! It's fun to finally hold this in my hands. Now if only those tickets will arrive in the mail soon...

When I originally made this variant and posted it on the boardgamegeek.com community forums, I received a lot of constructive feedback on making the game better, so...

*dum dum dum* The Emerald City, Second Edition is now complete!

And it was a lot of fun!

Many thanks to Alan R. Moon and Days of Wonder for making such a great, infinitely inspiring game and for allowing me to publish my little tribute over at BGG!

Is there any place to order a professionally made version of the game? I looked at Board Game Geek but I didn't find any order link.

There currently isn't a way to order the game, but I did make all the high-res files available with step-by-step instructions for crafting it yourself if you are so inclined! You can download it from the BGG file section under "pro package." Thanks for your interest! I'll be sure and let you know if I start taking orders. Very Happy
