FRENCH Soldiers

I decided to paint these the same uniform color as the National Landmark that was given to the US by France. I love the patina.

Did the ski troops really use snowshoes? I think the original figures look a bit silly wearing them. Your painted ones are nevertheless nice.

Thanks Antoine,
I thought if folks could see the possibilities they might be more interested in painting their minis.

Re:Equipment Pack Painted Figures Sat, 23 March 2013 20:09
I don't usually paint my figures (as I've said before, I view Memoir as a board game). But I haven't been able to resist lately. I just couldn't look at those off-white half-tracks, 88 flak guns, M-7 Hmc Priests, and especially Italian artillery anymore. I painted the three Tigers, three 88mm flak guns, three half-tracks, and two command cars dark grey. I painted three priests, and three jeeps OD green. And now I came to the Italian artillery. I looked up online what colors to use and used what I had (old paints, old brush). This is what I came up with for the artillery:

(sorry about the poor image quality, phone camera)
Tell me what you think.

Good job 50th.

I've been at it again and painted some Churchills, Nebelwerfers, Hobarts funnies and trucks. Here is my poor quality phone photo;

Here is another angle of an equally bad shot (camera broke, using phone)

Guilty as charged!
Every time I have to choose between playing M44 or painting M44 figures, the first option wins Very Happy

But, I do appreciate the detailed handiwork shown here.
Congratulations mr Stevens!

Does the paint hold onto those flexible models?

I've been playing with the idea painting my collection. The idea that the paint will become craquelé is holding me back.
After play the minis wil be put.back together in their plastic trays.

Whats your experience with this, does it hold?
(I would be using GW acrylic paint).

Re:Equipment Pack Painted Figures Sun, 24 August 2014 00:29
I always wash my figures before painting so that the oil from the figures moulds doesn't keep the paint from adhering. I prime with spray and then hand paint the figure. I finish with several coats of matte varnish to seal. My figures look fine and have held up to a lot of play.

Thats good to know, for I normaly treat other minis the same way.

I wash ther in soft soap with soda(-salt) .... (Don't know if this is a correct translation). Do you have any special recipe?

Think I'll give it a try

I just use a mild dishwashing detergent and an old toothbrush for scrubbing.

I did some more painting this weekend. I took the six snipers and painted two of them Olive Green (American) two dark grey (Germans) and the two Russians I was a little more creative:

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg214/ronh51/Miniatures/IMG_0997_zps2ae1d8e0.jpg

I painted the Finish Ski Troops white, and then painted their skis:

I use Vallejo paints and they hold up very well. Go to my User Page to see photos of my work. I can send you more information on my process if you are interested.
