SFTF BOOKLET Tue, 27 August 2013 02:11
Hi all,

Coming soon will be a booklet that can be downloaded for free containing 9 of my scenarios. With the amazing help from Jaime "Almicar", you will be pleasantly surprised as to the quality of the production. These scenarios are for board play only. If you do play any of them, please let me know your thoughts. As you will see, we have labeled it Volume 1. If there is a positive response, we plan on doing another volume.

If this goes over well, and we do a second volume, it would be helpful if you have any requests; Regular, Breakthrough or Overlord scenarios, special theater requests, or even one theater in a campaign format.

Stay tuned.

How much play testing was done on each scenario?

Re:SFTF BOOKLET Tue, 27 August 2013 21:29
These scenarios were all play tested thoroughly. That does not mean they are 50-50 in victory percentage. I was trying to get an interesting and exciting game for both sides. As you know strategy, cards and dice can affect the outcome dramatically.

The Overlord scenario, Stalingrad Perdition, is unchanged from the 2 online regular scenarios. They are combined to form this Overlord version. A lot of the community have played the online scenarios and you may want to ask them if it is interesting and fun before wasting any ink and downloading the booklet.

Eric

Oops, I gave away one of the scenarios!

Where's the "Like" button when I need it?

I've probably played at least 20 of LooneyLlama's scenarios, and I've playtested at least a couple. I find his scenarios interesting, fun, well designed, and often innovative.

Think of it as an Expansion From the Front. Wink

Hi to all,

both of us, Eric and I, are proud to announce that the booklet has passed the last screening and has been finally approved.

Many of you already know the quality of Eric's scenarios and we hope you will enjoy the booklet.

The link to get the whole PDF file: https://app.box.com/s/ww8ugtkung180gi7xuwv

There is now a version with a lighter background available here: https://app.box.com/s/d4y7rjnx0q8iwj1bdu4h

May you have any issues send me a PM or an email to jdevesa@msn.com Also, comments about the design, suggestions, etc. are welcomed.

Questions regarding the scenarios, please contact Eric "LooneyLlama". The scenarios should be back available online soon. Eric removed them to make minor tweaks, etc.

Enjoy!

Speechless, absolutely speechless...
Neat design and neat scenarios! I'm looking forward to playing that Husky Breakthrough...

Just one thing: on the booklet's cover, there is a Normandy map on the right side. And there aren't any Normandy scenarios included. You could change it to something more contextual (like a Sicily map).

Who knows, maybe one day DoW will decide to release this masterpiece! Very Happy

Both of you have come up trumps with this scheme, thankyou guys, its a real treat !

Hopefully this may be the first 'launch' of what could be many similar projects, (not just from Eric and Jaime, but possibly others who have the skills, dedication and desire to craft such a great 'expansion'). I like the 'Expansion from the Front' tag lol

Well done guys, you're an inspiration!

Once again,

Many thanks

Hi,

Hopefully you'll enjoy the scenarios as much as the art work done by 'Almilcar'. Anyway, all the scenarios are now posted on the SFTF page. Please post your thoughts after you play any of them. Especially the ones with different rules. I would very much appreciate it.

A note to all. Please read the special rules thoroughly. Some are very different than what you are used to. They do not take anything away from the game and they are not 'House rules'. They are scenario specific to enhance the scenario interest and playability.

Also, if this is well received, let me know what type of scenarios you would like for a second volume.

Eric and Alberto: thanks so much for sharing.

No really: thanks Smile

I see no other way than this being well received, so I will be so bold as to state my preference: Eastern front scenarios (and if I might be more specific, please include Viipuri and Rattenkrieg Smile ) Two of my favorite LooneyLlama scenarios)

See you on the battlefields! Smile

Re:SFTF BOOKLET Mon, 02 September 2013 12:05
We played El Guettar 3 times this weekend.
The Germans won each time: 8-4; 8-5; 8-7. As you can see, the US were progressing but were still defeated.
The main problem for the US are the tank destroyers that are really weak against armor. Because of the night rule, they do not really benefit from their longer range. They can be resupplied by the half-tracks, but it is resupply or combat, so sometimes a difficult choice to make.
Important to note also that for the first 2 games, the visibility remained very low for most of the game, so the US couldn't use their artillery.
We left the board set up for a 4th game this week. We will see if the US win this time.

Re:SFTF BOOKLET Mon, 02 September 2013 19:46
tinsoldier,

Don't forget that the half-tracks can fight like armor. Yes, the night has to turn into day a little quickly. If not, the Axis has the advantage. I thought of incorporating a special rule where on each turn the visibility increase one hex instead of rolling dice. In the real battle, the Axis wiped out a ton of the very weak Allied tank destroyers. They fell a hair short of winning the battle and were only turned back by artillery power when daylight occurred.

Anyway, thank you so much for reporting your results. I very much appreciate it.

Well, not exactly. For us, it is the 2-2-2 unit: moves 2 hexes, battles with 2 dice, up to 2 hexes. And it does not Overrun.

Any way, lost again with the US yesterday. Visibility only reached 4 hexes at the end of the game. I think I played well however, and used all my halftracks to resupply.

A great scenario

I took my revenge immediately with your other desert scenario, Relief of Tobruk. I won with the Italo-German force, 9-5. Nice scenario, could almost be played on-line, save for the command car.
The trick for the Germans is to be able to send reinforcement to their left wing when the Brits attack. That what happened yesterday. I managed to get one of my German armor through Halfaya Pass to help the Italians before the Brits could exit a single unit. I had some lucky shots from the bazzoka ahead of Sollum too. I took Fort Capuzzo for the win.

My boy wants to play again the Brits tonight, he is convinced he had unlucky dice ...
