I know this sounds silly, but the database is numbering these cards automatically. It will fix itself when we release the missing cards (mystery & suspense...) in future expansions. Twisted Evil

Yann

Why not just insert a record in the DB for the missing cards and point to a blank image.

(Maybe not using an AutoNumber/AutoIncrement field as both primary key and card number would do the trick too Twisted Evil )

It would be cool if those icons showing which expansions and board are necessary for a scenario (the ones shown in the scenario list) could be shown on the printable PDF-version as well (in a corner or something). That way, when flipping through a binder of printed scenarios, you could easily tell which expansions you'll need.

To quote myself here, would this feature be possible?

Found the game yesterday online and was very impressed with the UI and automation of the game. I don't like the earcon/audio cue to alert people that someone is typing in chat. I'm guessing it's supposed to sounds like a scratchy radio, but it sounded more like a soundboard going back in my laptop. Something like TTR's alert is better imo.

Welcome to the Memoir '44 Online army!! Very Happy I'm glad you found the game and you're enjoying it.

There's actually a whole forum dedicated to the Online version over here. This thread is meant to be for the Scenario Editor, I believe. You might want to re-post your suggestion over on the other forum so it gets noticed by the guys working on the game.

Have fun! Cool

TRANSITION BUG?

With the last version and the latest version, I always experience a major slowdown at the point that the game ends and transitions to the screen with the stats from the battle. The screen basically freezes for 3-4 sec. or so at the mid point of the fade between the two screens, where you can see both screens at the same time for a moment. Then the screen very slowly finishes the transition.

Often times the person I was playing has already typed "good game" and has left before I even get a chance to type anything. Very frustrating.

I have a new Dell Inspiron laptop i5 running Windows 7.

I have not experienced any other bugs or problems to date. (I have played about 30 games.)

This is actually a bug for the Memoir '44 Online version of the game...but you've posted it under the thread that's dedicated to the scenario editor (where you design your own battles).

If you look over here, you'll find the forum for the online game. You might want to re-post your suggestion over on the other forum so it gets noticed by the guys working on the game. Also, make sure that you submit a Bug Report Form by following the link in my signature area. Cool

This is a bug on scenarios from the front.

When you use a Camouflage token, it completely covers the below unit so you can no longer see what it is?

It work fine on the scenario editor, the token moves to the bottom side, but when you make the scenario public on scenario from the front the Camouflage token moves to the center of the hex.

Its anybody could fix this problem that would be great.

in the meanwhile, I will go back to using battle star tokens on my public scenarios.

Thanks

A very minor bug: I see that if I play a Lieutenant Colonel, his name badge, shown in the right corner when playing, displays the text of the rank and the name of the player in front of each other.

It's a little confusing, but this should be reported over on the Memoir '44 Online threads. Razz This is a thread reserved for the scenario editor and problems people are having when they try to create their own battle maps.

Welcome to the forums, though, and good catch with the bug. Please send in a Bug Report using the link I have in my signature area. Enjoy, and keep playing!! Cool

Re: M44 PDF Output- Bug reports and feedback Tue, 24 May 2011 05:46
Exporting SFTF 'Attack on Kakazu Ridge' by OldBloodandGuts - the unit badges in the exported PDF are those used in an older version of the map, not the updated version.

For example, the old version used Japanese elite unit badges to signify Machine Gun units before the actual MG unit badge was available. Viewing the map in SFTF shows the units with MG badges, but the PDF version still shows the substitute badges.

UPDATE: Tried a second time and the new badges showed up.

Different issue: when exporting a PDF and choosing 'save as', the file is saved without a file extension, so '.PDF' has to be added to the filename.

Re: M44 PDF Output - 2 minor bugs (maybe) and 2 requests Sun, 03 July 2011 23:50

In brief:
1 - file not found
2 - file with incorrect name, no extension
3 - export to PDF (breakthrough/overlord exports too small to read on one page)
4 - scenario database - option to search overlord and/or breakthrough maps only

In detail:
1)When I select Export to PDF, turn off the background to save ink, and click Export Now. As often as not, I receive a Problem Loading Page response such as this one from just a moment ago ("File not found. Firefox can't find the file at http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/memoire_pdf/?id=8041 . Try again." The "Try again" button never works, and it can take multiple attempts to go back and get the download to start. This occurs about 30% of the time, and can take 3 to 4 attempts until the download is initiated.

I primarily run Firefox (v4), and avoid IE, however I have experienced this before and from memory I think it occurs with both. I can spend more time on it, if you want more specific data.

2) Whether or not the above issue occurs, sometimes I download a correct filename and extension, and sometimes I get the file with a different name and no extension at all. It's the correct PDF file, but somehow there was a problem in the process of it being prepared and handed off to the browser for download. Yes, I can (and do) rename the resulting file. However, I've downloaded enough files in my life (yikes, since 1980) that I wonder why this occurs here and nowhere else.

3) Export to PDF
Now that I'm pushing 50, I find my eyes no longer function as they used to. When I download a Breakthrough map and print to letter paper, I have a very hard time reading it. When that huge map and the full briefing shrink to one page, it's too small to work with (my teen-aged son and gaming buddy also had a hard time).

Try it, and I think you'll agree the maps are REALLY hard to read, and the text is smaller than "phone book" size. Take a look at these two scenarios, "Holding the beachhead - February 28, 1944 - March 03, 1944" (http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/editor/view/?id=5920) and "Breakthrough at Seelow Heights" (http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/editor/view/?id=6684) and you'll see what I mean.

Since I'm a designer, I have the tools to go back and edit the PDF, putting the map on one page and the full briefing on the other. The resolution is there in the file, and the map looks terrific! I'd like to ask that DoW consider an option (call it "two page printout" or "full page map" or something that gives you an idea of the results) that lets the user receive the map on one page and the full briefing notes (also enlarged, to at least an 11 point font, or to "fit the page").

This is not a bug, but it's a genuine concern for older eyed-users. Now that I suffer from less flexible eyesight, it's become important to me.

3a) Note to scenario designers (or DoW - yah, another request!): Make sure to include this text in your briefing notes so it is included in the PDF export - how many cards each side gets, and who goes first. Brummbar44's "Breakthrough at Seelow Heights" shows these in the box above the map, as all scenarios do online, but that part of the page is not included in the PDF export, and he did not include it in the briefing text. After you print it and run upstairs to set up the map, you find you have to run back down to get on the web to look this info up again!

4) Breakthrough Format Maps
Is it possible to add an option to the scenario database that lets you search among Overlord or Breakthrough scenarios ONLY? Especially now, with Breakthrough, I'd like to be able to select from Breakthrough maps without having to dig through the listings.

I can see this being useful for Overlord as well. Perhaps in the same manner that you turn on and off filters for the expansions, these can be included.

Thanks for letting me suggest these.

I'm getting the same thing. I used to not have this problem. Let me try later with my XP computer (I'm on my Win7 laptop) and see if the problem is there also. I also am using firefox, but version 5.0

I have the same problem (scenario 9330, Landing at Betio, Tarawa)

And when exporting to pdf, the Camouflage token just disappears!!

Hello,

not sure whether this issue fits here or not, but haven't found any other place where to post it.

Memoir'44 Editor - version 1.2

When I do a Print Preview everything seems to be working alright, as displayed in the pic:
http://i45.tinypic.com/2ztlllf.png

However, when I want my printed version, either hard copy or PDF, I do get this:
http://i50.tinypic.com/kdvkvb.png

As you may notice, the text for each section title is converted into some unreadable set of characters.

Any clue on this?

Thanks

What are the language settings on your computer?

The font is being scrambled, this is often the case when the computer's language settings is not a "mainstream" setting.

Hello Phread,

the language settings on my computer is Spanish (Traditional Sort)

Shouldn't be a problem in my opinion.

Gonna try change it into English to make a quick test.

Thanks for replying

[Edited]

In my laptop everything is ok. Something is wrong in my desktop.

Should check it.

When creating a scenario in the editor, normally the last 4 sections of text (Briefing, Conditions of Victory, Special Rules, Bibliography) are divided into two columns under the single-column Historical background. More recently, everything from Historical background to bibliography is all kept in a single column, and the text is so tiny that it's nearly impossible to read.

Has anyone else seen this, know what causes it, or know what to do to get it to break into 2 columns so the text can actually be read without a magnifying glass?

Yea, I have noticed the same. I planned to use the M44 Editor to have a full compendium of scenarios in my language, but the printed version is really annoying with that tiny font size.

Let's see if we find a workaround, but is something someone should address

You could use a screen capture program to capture the screen where the text is and then enlarge that picture and print it on the back of your scenario page. I've enlarged the maps for overlord scenarios using this method. One screen capture program (and the one I use) is lightscreen. Lightscreen is available here: http://lightscreen.sourceforge.net/

Yes, I think it has to do with a style sheet or something like that. I'm gonna delve into it a bit more.

Also, the program should support more languages or a way to have community-translations of the UI.

Why is it, I end my day having 2383 Ingots left in my War treasury. When I start the next day I (Am not sure, did not check until I played two games)I only have 2375 ingots. I played two games at 3 a piece that should give me 2377 ingots? As well, I was involved in a game...it (the game) dropped me (was no problem on my side)I had to completely exit and re-enter before it allowed me the option to rejoin.
Of course I was gone for two seconds and the bot had done its crazy move before I could stop it.
Are my ingots gone for ever (even though I picked up the game after the bot had done half a turn)?

If I am going to pay for a bot to cut in and replace me for a turn I would prefer it not be so ignant (half price).

Maybe it be better if you give a guy a chance (3 min) before the bot takes over?

This is a real bummer

I can't download the complete campaign volume 1 using Safari on my IPad. It will load 7 pages then shut off even if I have it open in IBooks. All other PDFs load fine.
