That's strange, since he has been playing:

When did you first try to reach him, Geoff?

John, you have almost all said, except than you have not let me expect any luck to reverse the story as you have played perfectly yesterday night. that was not my case as I have forgotten the night rule when I played my first card Rolling Eyes Embarassed Laughing

Even on the second match, you were very close to win as well. I thank dices to have advantaged me.

It was, as usual, a big pleasure to play with you.

Eric, this maps gives me the same felling than "Japanese Counterattack". The Japanese hope than the night will last the more longer possible. And once day raised, they have the feeling to be like some rabbits versus a hord of hunters ! Very fun indeed and not easy (for me) to well play this situation ! Just continue to provide us with so beautiful maps Smile

Geoff--try reaching Buidheo on Geek Mail. I am not sure if he checks his PM's on this forum. I played him this past Tuesday in the Season 9 tournament.

We shall go to Imphal, we shall take it for the Emperor, or we shall not come back.

Dugrim - Jaykay2010
10 - 8

Dice 79 vs 63
Hit 43% vs 38%

An unbelievable comeback from 3-9 to 10-8, a must see.

Tank Commander - 7 medals and 32 figs versus Artimon 10 medals and 29 figs. (66 dices and 48% for TC against 69 dices and 42% for Arti)

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/fr/battle/?id=38 085262

A Japanese victory, thanks to an assault partly covered by the night on Japanese left flank. Hopefully for me, I had good cards and TC miss of them on this flank. Added to that, he has missed several shots on 1 figs units, giving me the time to kill enough british before take the medals objective.

Allied Victory on rematch. Mirror match of the previous one.I had again very good dices and cards, allowing me to attack on British right flank. Once again, TC was missing cards to counter attack.

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/fr/battle/?id=38 085923

Unbalanced matches. I thank TC for his patience and zen attitude as that was not fun for him. See you soon on more balanced match

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. But life is made up of hard choices and I chose to visit some themeparks this weekend with some other coaster friends of mine. It is a hard life but someone has to live it. Cool

Another Allied victory at Guadalcanal!

gheintze 8(34 figs)-buidheo 5(22 figs)

Buidheo started with a charge up the middle. After initially gaining ground, an overwhelming hand of cards (as well as dice) turned back the assualt. Every Japanese infantry unit in the middle was destroyed. While the Japanese were being cautious on the Allied right, the Allies advance on their left and took out another two infantry units. At this point, the Allies only needed one medal to win. After weakening an infantry unit on the right (who then retreated), an armor unit was eliminated for the win!

Thanks to Buidheo for the well-played game, unfortunately, there was not much he could do against the cards, Gung Ho, and dice of the allies.

Forward my allied commanders. We can take the next round too!

Victory for the Axis at Imphal !
Vaillants - Gheintze: 10-5

Very though game for the Brits. The sun woke up really quickly! But that didn't help the Brits artillery.

The battle took place mainly at Imphal. The beginning was difficult for the Allies (missed shoots, not a lot of commands available on that flank...). The Japs took immediatly the advantage by deploying their troops really rapidly. After 9 turns, at the middle of the battle, Imphal was Japonese. Four medals versus one British medal.

The Japs tried then to take control of Kohima, what they achieved thanks to their artillery. The reaction of the Allies seemed to be a bit out of phase. The lack of special commands was probably a cause of this phenomenon.

Altough, they achieved to retake control of a part of Imphal, not for long but they did damage some japs units. Five medals for them. The end of the battle took place around Kohima where three infantry units achieved to destroy a armour and an light infantry allied unit.

Though game for the Allies ! We played the revenche, 6-10 and it is far to be easy to win. It will be interesting to see how they will manage it! Thanks to my opponent for both fun games !

Commanding General Gheintze,

I am happy to report an Allied victory at Imphal and Kohima. The Japanese were ably led and fought valiantly. We had just a little more fire power (65 dice to 50) as the hit percentage was even(51% to 49%). The battle report is below.

Allies(LooneyLlama) 10 Axis(Lucky91) 7

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=38 190525

The rematch was one of the most exciting games I have ever played as it went down to a lone surviving Japanese infantry allowing for a close assault to garner the last 2 medals. Luc played really well as we fought over the medal hexes across all flanks.

Axis(Looney) 10 Allies (Lucky91) 8

Eric - thanks for the good news after my loss to Vaillants. Hopefully, we can hold our own here and pick up more wins in later battles. This certainly is a tough battle in which the Japanese can dictate in which sector the majority of the fighting will occur, and the British just have to react.

Hold the line Allies!

Well gentlemen another round finished, so another score posted:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30626174/jerfotodiv/Scoreguadalcanal.jpg

And it's all square at 20 to 20 points. We seem to have a hard time not scoring 7-3 or 3-7. Wink

So time for another postcard this time from the allied side:

Chicago 1942
Mid States Press, located in Chicago, decided to pay homage to all branches of the United States armed forces: Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. It’s the only set that devotes one card to each branch of the service. Another unique feature has the art taking up half the stamp side of the card, leaving the other side to send a more detailed message. Whereas the various governments produced many propaganda postcards during World War II, all United States cards were privately produced.

As a result, there is more variety among United States cards. In this series, the army card shows a soldier chasing Hitler with a bayonet. The Navy card has a sailor banging Hitler's and Mussolini's heads together. The Air Force pilot is dropping Tojo, Mussolini and Hitler as human bombs on Axis territory, and the Marine is putting the Japanese soldier through a clothes wringer. Before the advent of the dryer, the clothes wringer was an integral part of every America household, although virtually non-existent today.

I thought after this match the most appropriate card to to post would be the marine putting the Japanese soldier through the wringer:

Yes ma, I am doing my laundry over here Smile

Axis victory report General Van Voort.

JJ's Juggernaut - Droopy007: 8 - 10 / 26 - 28 / (22/47)47% Inf - (22/42)52% Inf / (4/13)31% Arm - (6/21)29% / (26/60)43% overall - (28/63)44% overall.
http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/fr/battle/?id=38 229839#replay:turn=1

A very close, even match!
6 first turns, still dark out there, were used to place our troops.
Then, until turn 22, we fought on the flanks, first Axis left, then right. At turn 22, score was 5/5.
The Allies launched then a powerful assaut center, and I had no center cards to defend.
At turn 25, Allies lead 8/7, with the 2 bunker hills almost taken (1 fig inf in one, 2 fig inf in the other), and still no cards to counter attack.
So Axis went for the win, and thx to a lucky shot, 3/3 on the last Allies inf left in Imphal, which gave me access to the 2nd town medal, and finished a single inf... 3 medals for the win Smile.
But it completely could have gone the other way...

We played the rematch that he also lost 8/10, this time out of bad luck.

Thx for the games Josiah, really close and fun to play Very Happy

Go Axis !! Smile

Buidheo (axis) - JAParker (allies): 10 - 6 / 31 - 20 / no idea how to get all the %.

The Allies ran up on their right but were met with axis armour and infantry counterattacking. Considerable action was on the Allies right with the axis pushing on their right. When most of the units were shot up in the middle, the axis played a double move out and grabbed 4 medals, sealing the victory. The allies were outshot about 2:1 which did not help their cause. Very hard for the allies and when the board was flipped the same thing happened.

Thanks to an excellent opponent - well played.

Gonzalan VS Kellogs_10, 10-26-13

Well, the ALLIES have crept a little closer for the round, 4-2, after my 10-2 victory over K_10 today.

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=38 260802

This, as he put it, is a game of dice and cards and I had the best of both this match.

The game started on my right, ALL, attacked with one unit, got a hit and moved the other units into position and in cover.

He tries 1-1-1 and goes 3-9 and I continue on my right, INF ASLT, and kill his 2 forward units and jump out 2-0.

He again tries for Kohima, 2 hits and down to 1 fig and I, in all my brilliance, play BEL on my next move thinking it's one big jungle right? WRONG!! No shot at the baseline tanks, but unit does retreat to the hill behind Kohima and I just think of it as a single sniper unit willing to give up his life for the cause! LOL!

Lucky for me DL only at 2 and he moves out and takes Kohima and Naga, 2-2 now.

I advance on Kohima and get 3-4 on unit in town, he then plays 3 CENTER looking to target 1 fig on Kohima hill with ARTY, forgets DL at 3 and of no use to him. Score 2-2, oversights 1-1! LOL!

The next 2 turns key as far as daylight goes, jumps from 3 to 6 and after killing another unit in center, 3-2, play A/P, turn 11, on his baseline, 7-8 hits, killing an ARMOR unit and cutting the other units in 1/2 and crippling his attacking power on his left, 4-2.

From this point I had good cards, 1-1-1 and 2-2-2, killed 4 more units, he lacked cards on his right most of the game and in the end I played a center card and killed unit in Naga and took medal, final of 10-2.

I was all in the 60% range, INF,ARMOR and overall and had good cards and he lacked cards on his right,I had a timely A/P as well that directly lead to killing5 of his units on his left.

If we me meet again I am sure I will not be so lucky!! Thanks for your good sportsmanship Kellogs_10 and good luck in the matches to come!

I also won the rematch,10_6, link below:

I believe that there are still 4 matches to play--in any case, only 6 match results have been posted to date, with the Axis currently leading 4-2--unless I have missed something!

I did as a matter of fact miss something! Two matches for this round were played before Jeronimon posted the results for the last round. Clorofila is correct. The Axis are currently ahead 5-3, not 4-2.

I have PM-ed Frostberg on M44 but had no answer yet.
But I am confident we will play our match before or in this weekend.

Does anyone know if he reads his Geekmail more often than his M44 PM's?

I played Frostberg in the second round of this tournament, and we arranged our game by means of PM's here on DOW, so he does read his PM's.

Whether he reads Geekmail more often, I do not know, but it would not hurt to send him a message by means of both channels.
