Ticket to Ride is all aboard the Humble Bundle with Android 7 Tue, 15 October 2013 20:07
At Days of Wonder, being avid gamers ourselves, we've always been huge fans of Humble Bundle - not only is the price right (you pay what you want) and their choice of indie games included in each Bundle always a delight, but they've also done a terrific job of supporting charities we care a great deal about - such as Child's Play!

http://blog.daysofwonder.com/wp-content/dow-uploads/2013/10/T2R-humblebundle.jpg

So we actually were really humbled and totally delighted when they offered to include Ticket to Ride in their Humble Bundle with Android - in the company of such stellar games and long-time favorites of ours such as The Bard's Tale, Worms 2, Greed Corp, Incredipede and Anodyne.

If you already own and love Ticket to Ride on Android or Steam, these other games are a must-check; and if you don't own it yet, you'll never find a better price, since you get to decide how much you will contribute.

So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and check out Humble Bundle with Android 7:

http://www.humblebundle.com

The page has just gone live; you can now acquire all these games in one terrific bundle for the price of your choice AND your contribution will help support two charities - Child's Play and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

For all the specs and to learn more visit the Ticket to Ride for Android webpage:

Great!

Trying it now,

My Nexus 4 is not the best place to play it (4,7") but it works well, great job with the app. it looks exactly the same as the steam version.

I see that the game don´t use the low and high edges, ¿maybe because the adaptation from the iphone longest screen?

P.D. I am sorry for my bad english

A warning to everyone. The Humble Bundle for Android 7 claims it includes a 1910 map pack. I bought the bundle, installed the game, and found there's no additional map pack, just the option to BUY the map pack I already paid for. The Humblebundle version ONLY includes the basic US map.

Halleyscomet:

You probably missed the instructions in the Humble Bundle download page to activate your USA 1910 map. Using the 1910 DLC Steam key that you got in your bundle, go to http://www.daysofwonder.com/hb and enter your key. This will unlock the map on your Days of Wonder account.

Have fun!

I use the Humble app to download my Android games. It makes no mention of any such requirements. After reading your reply I checked the download link Humble Bundle emailed me and saw no mention of the directions you mention.

Requirements like this should be disclosed before purchase, especially when it renders the "DRM Free" claim of the Humble Bundle a bald faced lie.

To play a map advertised as DRM Free I have to sign up for an account here and connect it to a supposedly DRM Free game.

Right now I'm looking for a damn good reason not to contact Humble Bundle and demand a refund because of their false advertising.

Update:
I STILL can't find these alleged install directions anywhere on the HumbleBundle download page. Next time, you might want to have some remedial QA at your end to make sure the third party vendor is giving the customers the directions you expect them to be giving.

Steps:

1. Receive email from HumbleBumble and click on the individual link in the email (shown below)

Quote:

Your Humble URL: https://www.humblebundle.com/?key=###f###a###k###e###

2. On this linked-to page are the instructions and keys necessary to retrieve your games. Less than half way down is the following text which tells you how to get the DLC. Click on the link (shown below):

Quote:

Ticket to Ride DLC!

To access the DLC in the DRM-free and Android versions of Ticket to Ride, please visit http://www.daysofwonder.com/hb. To get it on Steam, simply redeem your Steam key for the DLC!

3. This linked-to page says:

Quote:

Non-Steam users: here you can activate your extra maps on your Days of Wonder account, and enjoy them on your Android device and/or your DRM-free game. This is accomplished in this page by using the Steam keys that you received in your Humble Bundle - but without installing Steam!

Steam users: you don't need to do this - you should use your Steam keys directly in Steam instead. This will also unlock the map(s) on your Android device. Just make sure you use the same Days of Wonder account everywhere, of course

Below this helpful info is the area to include your key:

Quote:

Activate a map using a Steam key

To activate a map, enter the Steam key that you received in your Humble Bundle:
Steam Key:

Once your map(s) are activated, go back to your Android device or your DRM-free game, and go the online gaming area:
the Play Online panel or the Restaurant in the Station. This will trigger an update with the server and update your maps.

4. Enjoy your DRM-free experience.

---

As you can see, I received all necessary info to access my DLC - and as promised it is DRM-free. Hopefully others will benefit from this explanation although it seemed quite clear to me.

Thank you.

I was able to get the map pack working on my Nook. It's been pointed out to me that I'm getting bent out of shape over a charity fund raiser. I've already invested far more frustration and anger in this than is justified.

I apologize for my harsh tone in my earlier comments.

Well this is cool.

I activated the map packs in my Days of Wonder account and they're available not just on my Android device, but on my iPhone as well.

And once again DoW shows why it is the best board game company around. I'm glad you got everything worked out.

Re:Ticket to Ride is all aboard the Humble Bundle with Android 7 Thu, 17 October 2013 01:00
This is third electronic version of Ticket to Ride that I have purchased. I purchased first on Steam and found it didn't work on Linux (installed then through Wine and it sorta works). I then purchased the Android version when it came out. Now that there is a Linux version out, I decided to go for it on Humble Bundle.

First, it is unfair that I have to continue to purchase the game to play on different platforms even though I am the only user. It also means buying different maps on different versions. Steam, which I don't use anymore, has all the maps but I have yet to drop the money on getting them for Android.

Now I buy the Humble Bundle and cannot get Ticket To Ride on Linux to work. I am running Fedora. I cannot find instructions anywhere. The only hint I get is that I need to have Java 32 bit running from the Humble Bundle page (http://support.humblebundle.com/customer/portal/articles/132 3415-system-requirements---humble-bundle-with-android-7).

The game starts but nothing happens. I have a dark overlay atop the start screen. I do not know where to go for help so I write this message here.

Edited to add: I just merged two accounts - the Steam and the Android one and now see that I have web access or something so am trying to follow the directions to get that working. Not sure if that will help my problem. Additionally, merging the accounts didn't seem to get me the maps on Android. I do wish that there had simply been more information so that I didn't mistakenly buy the game 3 times. I feel stupid.

Hi,

here the Linux-Version doesn't work either.
Ubuntu 12.04 + backports 64 bit.

I can start the game, it then want's to update to the new version. I press on install and that's it. The windows' gone and the game crashed.

Hope for a fix

Same here, succeding in playing again with this.

Found this url in the config file of the game http://downloads.daysofwonder.com/ticket-to-ride/updates/upd ates.xml

I'd download one of the .sh files and re-install the game.

Thanks for the help. I now can play solo games which is not what I want.

If I want to log in into my account the game freezes after I put in my account name (or Emai-address) and pressed on OK

I am sorry to say that I can't get the 1910 expansion activated. As far as I can tell, I did follow all the necessary steps.
I have the license in my Steam account.
If I go to http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/hb and choose "Activate a map using a Steam key", enter the key, I get the response "You already own the corresponding map. No need to activate it again".

On my Android, I enter Online game to "trigger an update" but to no avail. The 1910 expansion is stamped with "Buy".

One thing I really don't understand: On http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/hb it says "Just make sure you use the same Days of Wonder account everywhere, of course." What does this mean? I have a Steam account. I also have a DoW account. How could they be the same?

Please, help me. What am I doing wrong?

Just a warning - if you've already bought TtR through Google Play, then any maps you've bought there are not transferable. I've been advised that I'll need to have two installations: one from Humble Bundle containing 1910, and another with my other maps. This is not a workable solution: I didn't see any notice that there would be an incompatibility between what I'd already bought and the 190 add-on.

I realise that, for a charity donation, I got good value for money, etc, but I haven't got what I thought I was buying, and feel a bit let down that core customers, who have already bought the game, are not getting the full value of this purchase.

Where were you informed of this? I too have TTR from Google Play and the swiss map, but certainly not he space for two versions of the game on my phone. If I could get the Europe map on my GP install I would be happy with that...

So there's no way to get the 1910 and Europe maps from the Humble Bundle to appear in a Google Play installation of TtR? That's frustrating. Ideally I'd like to keep the Google Play installation, so that I keep getting updates automatically from the Play Store and don't need extra frameworks like the HB app installed, but with the extra maps from the Humble Bundle.

Especially if this can happen:
Halleyscomet

I activated the map packs in my Days of Wonder account and they're available not just on my Android device, but on my iPhone as well.

I just checked on my iPad, the 1910 maps are available in the TtR Pocket iPhone app, but not in the main TtR iPad app. Since I rarely play TtR Pocket, I have no idea if they were there before.

I understood that Apple wouldn't allow in-app purchases to be transferred from other platforms onto iOS.

Anyone from DoW care to clarify how it's supposed to work? I'm guessing everyone's busy at Essen, but maybe there's someone still around. Smile

That's strange. I activated the 1910 map in my Dow account, but TtR Pocket on my iPhone still tells me I should buy it Sad

I bought the Humble Bundle and I'm trying to get Ticket to Ride working with Steam. I activated my Steam keys in the Steam client, it says I have the game and the 2 DLC (1910 and Europe) but when I load the game and hit play, it doesn't give me an option to play any of the maps. I've been searching around for a while to see if there is something I'm doing wrong and I just can't figure it out. Please let me know if there is a step I am missing, I would love to play this game.

-Edit-
Apparently it is working fine for me now. Not sure what I did if anything but all is good. Loving this game. Will probably look into buying the physical game. Keep up the awesome work. =)

Linuxversion Still not working. was:Ticket to Ride is all aboard the Humble Bundle with Android 7 Sun, 27 October 2013 14:35
Ok,

I tried the Linux-Version again today. I got an update, which only worked when I do a chown -R [myusername] /opt/Ticket\ to\ Ride.

But the game still hangs, when I want to input my account data.
-> No online Game -> worthless

I'm also trying to figure this out. When I try to buy extra maps on my Nexus 7, the "add to cart" button just flashes like it was pressed and does nothing. I can't find the other maps anywhere on the Google Play store outside of the game, and I'm unsure if buying the "web version" on the Days of Wonder website will get me access to it on my tablet or not.

Does anyone know how we can save a Pass and Play game for future play ? I play with my wife and the electronic version rocks because we have little time to set up a board game. However, we can only play a few minutes at a time and want to be able to save our Pass and Play game to continue later. It doesn't seem to work for me so far.

Also, does anyone know if we can save a online private network game in progress for later play ?

Thanks in advance for an awesome app ! Smile
