Thank you DoW for comunicating so much! Wed, 02 October 2013 20:11
Wasn't sure what would be the best place for this, so putting it here.

Thank you for still taking the time to keep the lines open despite how busy things are right now. It's really frustrating to have questions or problems with a game and get nothing but canned answers or silence from the devs. So thank you for keeping us as up to date on things as you can.

Just wanted something a little counter to all the frustration going on after release.

No, I've had companies put out products with an almost complete radio silence. Release problems were ignored and overly negative feedback was deleted from the forum. In contrast for me Eric in particular has been communicating what he can. It's hard to just be open and honest in the business world, so it's nice to see DoW trying.

After all the negativity that came out over the release of Small World 2 (some of which I agree is deserved) I just wanted to say I do appreciate what they are trying to do. Often the only reason that people speak up on a forum is to complain. I just wanted to counter that a little is all.

Fair enough. To me it seems that game was put out unfinished and untested to a certain extend. It is understandable that dow seeks more revenue with android and steam development at the moment but since We have paid the app I think we have right to demand some attention for example to bugs and UI flaws on iOS too. There is no excuse and I think these guys know it. For me few friendly posts here just aren't enough.

DoW seek to keep their promise to Steam and Android backers that is what they seek! For they have already done what they promised to iPad backers. It is absolutely unfair of you to say that the game was put out unfinished and untested! Small World 2 for iPad is a great product and it works like a charm! Yes, there are things to be improved and they will be improved for DoW give their word and they keep their word, always, that is what I respect them for. We could wait for a more perfect product years and years and now we can play online and help to make the game better providing our feedback which is always welcomed by DoW. I prefer the second variant.

This period of time, that you spend with a product that "works like charm" and I with a little bit less functional software, might feel natural extension for backers to the kickstart where you guys did a great job of funding the game development. A job well done. And if you feel that you got value for your effort, hey that's great!

I don't mean to bug you, but consider this, I am not a backer, just an ordinary customer who buys stuff and assumes the products are functioning like they are supposed to. Maybe my expectations were too high. People expect different things you know. Like they have different needs for the game to fullfill. Fo me it is usability. There is a great post of the current state of the multiplayer elsewhere in this forum (to put it short, the same 1vs1 like the old versio was) so I won't go that. But being what it is, I prefer to play my 5 player games solo at the moment. But who knows, I might be the only weirdo doing that? Some who are happy with 2 or 3 player online random games don't even know that there is a solo ranking online tables (which by the way do not work).

I notice that I got carried away... You can delete this if preferred, but must state that even though I keep my distance to kickstarts, I am fairly active on reporting bugs, which should be an asset too to the developers I believe.

Maybe patience is not one of my too few virtues... Well, I have done my fair share of beta testing during the years, believe me, so I prefer to leave it to others nowadays. Keep up the good work!

To be fair, what you have bought is a very solid and fully working game. To my knowledge there are no game crashing bugs or major issues that make playing the game harder or put you at a disadvantage. There are issues with the AI, and some design choices that seem suspect. Both of those issues have solutions though at least as a temporary work around.

As far as releases go this was a really damn good one. I'd say those issues getting fixed is not something that has to demand DoW's undivided attention right away.

I agree with this statement. Yes, there are some issues, but nothing that makes the game unplayable, simply things that would make it better.

I couldn't agree more. And based on the DoW track record, they will return to this very fun app to improve the areas that can use improvement when they have time. Personally, I'm still having a blast!!

Just this morning I finished a game against a great opponent where we both played really well. He got lots of early points and I fought my way back into the game by the end. Just before we finished our last turns, we agreed that he probably won because of all his early points and wished each other "good game" only to discover at the final count that I got him by 1 victory point!! What a blast. He instantly started another game so that we can do it all over again!

To me, that makes this a wonderful app. Smile
