What I'd like for Christmas Thu, 19 December 2013 12:37
What I'd like for Christmas is for DoW to start working on a next release of the online game.

Here are the items I'd like to have fixed/built for the online game:

Mandatory:
- Certain bug fixes, mostly around the ambush card (ambush from sea, sniper ambushing a tank, … )

Main focus:
- all SWA's (early and late war)
- more artillery: Heavy AT guns and Big Guns
- other units: tank destroyers, patrol cars, half tracks (without resupply), command cars, Hobart's Funnies, …
- certain terrain: Winter Roads, Winter Churches, (Winter) Railroads, (Winter) Marshes, Mountains, …

Nice to have:
- Several rules, like Re-Supply, Heroic Leader, …

Now I do know that developing such a thing would be very costly. And online version of the game does not necessarily have enough players (paying customers) to warrant such an expense by DoW.
But why not do a project like the kickstarter project for Smallworld.
For example, make an announcement that:
- DoW will fix a certain list of bugs by a certain date.
- If they sell X major packs by a certain date, they'll add in SWA's
- If they sell 2*X major packs by that date, they'll add in Heavy AT guns and Big Guns.
- If they sell 3*X major packs by that date, they'll add in TDs, PCs and some terrain.
- etc …

Even if I still have like 800 GI left on my account, I'd gladly buy 2 major packs now if it would get DoW to add some of these new units and terrain.
Because if they add this, I will need these GI very quickly. If they don't add this, I can still go for quite a while with the GI I have left.

I will be a LOT less ambitious than Wim Very Happy
For Christmas I just wish that DoW will respond to my pleas to remove those darn "ghost" open games waiting for the eternal opponent at Sidi Rezegh Airfield and Rzhev. But even so, I'm not that hopeful...

Please DoW, give it the update that Small World got and release it on mobile devices and give the game some TLC. Stop using in game currency but for the base game and expansions (similar to Small World 2)

Or depending on ones musical taste, TLC, was an American girl group of the late 1990's, early 2000's that sang, Hip Hop, R & B, New Jack Swing and some Rap.

Just giving you another choice André!

Totaly agreement with Wim. I think a whole lot of plagers would be be ready to buy 'expansions' for the online game. It feels like dow has abandoned the online game (and I repeat; it feels, I could be wrong of course) which is very unfortunate and this probably due to a lack of enough plagers. So kickstarter could be a solution. Curious to know how many people would invest. it's 2014 now, i'm sure we'll get good news this year Razz
Please dow make our wishes come true Cool we promise to be very kind this year Very Happy

I agree. Here's a list of known bugs for official scenarios.

With regard to your wish list of new units to add, I'd say the next priority would be to make terrain you can add with the editor work in the Online game. They could have been adding one a month (cemetery, railroad track, etc.) teaching both the game and Johnny how to deal with it.

No Bug fixes since December 2011 - yes, I agree.

And online version of the game does not necessarily have enough players (paying customers) to warrant such an expense by DoW.

I see several cadets almost every time I open M'44 Online.

As we learned a few months ago, it's possible that when the trial expires players are clearing it from their computers and coming back with a new email account for another free trial. Hello, $8 is too much?

A solution is to get rid of the free trial and go to 2 free scenarios (unblanced ones) for each front.

In order to add all those troops you'd like, they could create a new "official-expert" tab for the more complicated or bigger scenarios, starting with Red Barricades, and add new units there. In order to play you would have to have bought a bigger G.I. pack that allows you to play expert scenarios. Therefore (if they build the scenarios) those who are loyal could then play with troops, rules and Combat Cards from Winter Wars, for instance.

So that would be a 3-tiered system.
(1) Free scenarios for newbies and those out of coin.
(2) Regular, official scenarios from the 4 fronts for those who buy a pack.
(3) Expert-official scenarios and Expert-SFTF for those who buy a bigger packs.
