I'm not the official answer on this, but according to my notes:

Axis took infantry in rounds 3 & 5, armor in round 4. Available: 1 inf, 1 armor, 1 arty.

Allies took infantry in round 2, armor in round 4. Available: 2 infs, 1 armor, 1 arty.

4 rounds to play, including this one.

We'll take an artillery on the left flank next to the medal hex (to the right, first hex from center section).

Good luck!

Hi all,

You can now schedule your match for 'Tarawa, Japanese Counterattack'. It is now online with the Allied reserve unit placed. Good Luck to all.

I am requesting a barrage card in my hand to handle the extra arty unit with the Allies. An air strike would be handy too. Razz

Buidheo,

If not for the fact that we are opponents in this round, I would gladly grant your request as an early Boxing Day Gift!!! Maybe next round you will get the gift of a reserve unit!

If I were Japan, I'd avoid asking for any kind of "fat man."

In 2013, the fat man is on the Axis side...
And I didn't realize it was a night scenario. So, I'll take a 2-2-2 and TFH under the tree, with a couple inf assaults thrown in. Ho-ho-ho

Attention Commanders!!

I have received word that Sam and Frostberg cannot find each other on the battlefield. While they hack their way through the jungles of Tarawa to engage in battle, we will move on to a different island. Our next engagement is 'The Battle of Angaur'. It is now online for everyone to play.

Geoff, could you make the lineups. Also, you and van Voort can let me know what and where you want to place your reinforcement unit. You both have 3 reinforcements left and there are only 3 scenarios left. So, use one for each of the final 3 scenarios.

Axis: 1 infantry, 1 armor, and 1 artillery left.
Allies: 2 infantry and 1 armor left.

Good Luck to everyone.

Yes, it was as I suspected, you confused ALBINSCOTT THE MAN with CLOROFILA THE LEGEND, easily done!! And just so happens, I lose to both consistently!!

We'd like an armor unit (flamethrower if possible) in the right shore hex in the center section. Working on line-ups now...

Eric,

Frostberg has informed me that he's ready to play our match from the previous round.

He's available Sunday morning. Could you please re-post Tarawa, Japanese Counterattack in time for a Sunday 9AM ET (3PM CET) match?

Would that inconvenience any of the other players?

Thank you.

I've just received a request from Frostberg to delay our match until 11AM ET (5PM CET) tomorrow (Sunday).

Will that be a problem for anybody?

Hi IGH,

If I do get interest I was planning on a Western Front Tournament. We've already done Med. Theater, Eastern Front and now are finishing up the Pacific Theater. We have 2 rounds to go and it may take a few weeks to complete. Just keep looking for a new post about the tournament.

André,

I am sure by "interest", Eric means after we have demoralized and defeated the "AXIS" troops on the Pacific Front, that perhaps they will no longer have an "interest" in continuing the War on the Western Front!!

I am sure he meant on harm!! Shocked

But, if he is to continue, I am sure there will be "mild interest" from maybe 20 or so of us!!

Comrades, unfortunately there is always a new cycle of war and interest. If only the world would hash it out on M44 online!

I'm in if--I mean WHEN--the next one starts. I'll be watching for news...

Hey! And after the Western Front tourny, there could be a tourny across what you think are the best two or three of the four fronts (not sure how many scenarios get played in the course of a tourny...)

Just a thought. Cool

Oooh, I see it now, Tony! Eric is "a contar com o ovo no cu da galinha", as it said in Portuguese - expecting so hard something that is not assured yet at all (expecting the egg in the chickens bottom, literally)! Well now, I don't think there is a real danger of such happening; even if something remotely seamed with an axis defeat would happen, the drive for revenge that characterizes so many of us human beings would certainly generate a lot of "interest" Smile

Thank you for your enthusiasm and suggestions, Iron Gut Heath! I'm sure that Eric "LooneyLlama" will provide us the best tournament!

IGH,

10 scenarios per front has been standard, I joined for the last 3 in the Med Front and that one went down to the last battle, think the 2 generals fought it out if I recall correctly and Allies won.

Eastern Front close as well until last round or 2 and Axis pulled ahead and won.

Pacific Front close as well almost at the end of 8 rds, slim lead by he Allies and well on our way to victory! LOL!

10 scenarios per front, 10 per round, 100 battles and things have been close overall per front.

Hope you can join for the next one.

No, none are, all standard format, but LooneyLlama incorporates many features into his scenarios and are more than your average shooter scenarios.

He also makes excellent OL scenarios and speaking of, playing OL on VASSAL, think lineup is full, but welcome to show and watch, see thread on this forum for more info, at the M'44 English forum ans not the online forum.

Thanks. I just checked out VASSAL and got registered. I'll see what I can find there. M44 is my first online community playing so ALL of this is brand new to me.

Maybe one you vets could post a fresh message on the forums giving an overview to all the means and communities that exist for playing M44 online...? I'd read it... Very Happy

Re:Pacific Theater Tournament/Overlord Scenario Thu, 06 February 2014 15:09
Hi everyone,

There seems to be a loss of interest in this tournament. We still have 2 games left to play in round 8. Maybe we have run out of steam for this format. I also have not heard from van voort or gheintze about the next round's lineups. Unless I hear from those with matches left to play and the commanding generals, I think I will close out this tournament. No big deal. 10 rounds may have been too many anyway. Thanks for playing.

By the way, I've written some scenarios that I have saved on vassal. These scenarios use all aspects of the rules and units and are not restricted by the online bugs. PM me if you would like to try them.

Eric
