Sir Bedivere Fri, 22 April 2005 02:14
I have a couple of questions on this new knight: Sir Bedivere. (as denoted at the shadowsovercamelot.com website)

1. Let's say you are unable to attend any game conventions or for that matter (in theory) you are unable to even get your hands on any of the magazines. Will Days of Wonder offer the player's card and the figurine for sale on their website, so that we can order him?

2. What color will Sir Bedivere be represented as?

3. Let's say you are able to obtain one of the magazines... will the quality of the "player's card" be equal to those included in the game? Or will a player's card even be offered through that format?

All questions are simply born out of high interest for the game. Thank you for any replies, in advance!

If you go to Game Trade Magazine's website, it looks like Bedivere's base is not colored.

in order.

1. Sir Bedivere's coat of arms (the player's card you are referring to) will be available for download from the final web site when the final game ships. This is the only game piece you truly need to play the Knight, as it describes its unique Special Power.

For the Knight itself, should you be unable to attend any of our conventions or secure a copy of Game Trade magazine, any fantasy miniature that fancies you would do too.
We might also be able to distribute the actual plastic figure through some other ways than the ones currently announced; but we have not pinned all the details down yet, so we won't announce something we're not quite sure we can pull off yet. Availability should not be an issue, or not for long, as we manufactured more copies of Bedivere than of the game itself.

2. Sir Bedivere's base is colored, in orange, if my memory serves me well.

3. The "quality" of the card will depend on the magazine. I suspect that for Game Trade, whose trade paper is not as high quality as the sheets we provide with the game, a lot of players will opt to download and print the PDF file instead, and laminate it. The result is very satisfactory, as evidenced by the photos from the prototype (where this is exactly what we did, on a cheapo $ 100 color inkjet printer).

Picture of Sir Bedivere taken by fanaka66:

Personal comment: gorgeous as you expect from DoW. Very Happy

EDIT: the image don't appear, as the link above is automatically enwrapped by "URL" tags when I hit "submit". Is it my error or should a moderator do something about it? Confused
(You can still click on the link to see the picture, of course...)

I decided to try my hand at painting Bedivere. It's nothing compared to what you see from some miniatures painters, but I think it came out pretty good for me. I've posted the picture to BGG, but it's still pending. Hopefully it will be up today.

I have only a simple question:
will one day a "Sir Bedivere Complete Set" be on sale?

In my mind the SBCS will contain:
the coat of arms with traitor back,
the miniature,
the orange die,
a small cardboard with Sir Bedivere's orange chair to place over one of those already printed on the gameboard.

There are no such plan at this time, though it would indeed make for a nice package.

But the miniature will be available, and Sir Bedivere's sheet can already be downlaoded from the web site.

I would second the call to sell the miniature from your website. I always like having "Complete" games.

I cannot attend any of the conventions and aquiring the issue of Game Trade magazine is becomming very very difficult, especially now that it is out of print. I have been trying to get the magazine for almost 2 months now. My local game store does not stock it as a regular item because it is not really devoted to consumers it is aimed at industry folks.

I would very much like to obtain one of of the Sir Bedivere figures.

Peace

Glad to hear you'll be making the miniature available. Thanks for posting Sir Bedivere's stats. Hope he will have a card/coat-of-arms with him as well. I'd be willing to pay more if he also came with a matching life die. I could live without the chair, but it would be cool. Cool Perhapse this will start a whole new line of expansion Knights! Laughing

My family ordered me a copy for Father's Day, and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival. Quest onward good Knights! Remeber, no longer Might makes Right, but now and forever: Might for Right!

Cool Will the mini be available at Gen Con Indy this year?

I just checked Ebay prices and one auction is over $16, not including the $4 shipping. This is a ridiculous price, but 'what the market will bear'.

What is the price, availibility for the mini on this site and when? Thank you for your help.

TTFN,

John

yes, it is ridiculous. We will have some minis at Origins (I believe, Mark please correct me if I'm wrong). We will also have some up on our web site, as soon as the figures reach the warehouse.

Noble Knight Games (www.nobleknight.com) is selling the gametrade magazine with Sir Bedivere for $8.95. Just search their site for "days of wonder" and it should show up.

Yes, we will have Sir Bedivere miniatures available on the website, later this summer, but they are still being shipped from our overseas manufacturer, so it will be a little while before they show up.

Thanks for the tip, but when I checked the Noble Knight site, the price for the magazine with figure is now $19.95! Shocked Someone must have told them it was popular. Crying or Very Sad

Thanks anyway.

TTFN,

John

Once again, Boards and Bits proves its worth as an online retailer--their preorder copies of the game came with a free issue of the magazine and miniature.
