Be Not Afraid Expansion in October Thu, 09 September 2010 04:24
More fun on the way! I read this today in the September 2010 GTM(Game Trade Magazine):
"Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em! There are many frightening inhabitants of Small World, but to survive you must BE NOT AFRAID! This new expansion for Small World includes a nasty lot of five new races (Barbarians, Homunculi, Pixies, Pygmies and greedy little Leprechauns) as well as five new Special Powers(Barricade, Mercenary, Imperial, Corrupt, and Catapult - which allows you to leap over regions to conquer new lands). Scheduled to ship in October 2010."

We only know what they've posted on the web site. These new races look pretty interesting!!!

The great thing about this game is that DoW can keep adding new races, new abilities, and they can create new maps. As fans of the game we can look forward to lots of stuff and expansions for this game! Very Happy

New race capabilities...

Barbarians -- 9 units; The barbarians DO NOT redeploy at the end of your turn (or anyone else's turn). Where they conquer is where they remain. IF the last, die-rolling conquest fails, those barbarian tokens stay off the board until the beginning of your next turn.

Homunculi -- 5 units; Every time they're bypassed during the "buy-a-race" phase, you place an extra unit on them in addition to a victory coin. (Where they're finally taken, you get the victory coins and the extra troops!)

Leprechauns -- 6 units; During redeployment, a pot of gold can be place on any or all areas just conquered. They're worth a victory point if you still have them at the beginning of your next turn (and then they're taken off the board); they're worth a victory point to any race that conquers a Leprechaun region with a pot of gold on it. (No idea how many pot of gold tokens there are.)

Pixies -- 11 units(!); During redeployment only one pixie unit can remain on each conquered region.

Pygmies -- 6 units; When you lose a pygmy token, roll the die. The number of pips on the die is the number of reinforcements you get to replace him! (0 to 3.)

Any idea how many pygmy tokens will be shipped with the game? I'm guessing they don't have the same capability for growth as sorcerers/skeletons?

Where did you find this great information?! Shocked Looks interesting and it's always fun to have more options in the game!

Oops. I read your question and answered "pixies" instead of "pygmies." Had to come back and edit myself.

16 pixies. (Woo. I'm smart.)

Pygmies. Good question!
