Re:Fusion 2014 - Andromeda Group - Schedule and results Mon, 03 March 2014 10:14
US-MAP (what else Very Happy ) NG xbomanx - GANG TuS Tenniskasi 4:2

1. VAN-SF, HEL-LA (DALL-NY) his start

Bülent starts with 6 orange, my answer: 6 yellow, 6 black, 6 white (he took them open) 4 green, all without lokos, having 7 on my hand. Bülent 3 black LA-PHO, me 5 lokos on white!!! Bülent 3 white PHO-ELP, me 2ELP-SANFE, Bülent 2 white HOU-NO. I have 4 red and 2 lokos on hand, but while Bülent has drawn 44, I just have 38 cards on my hand. I decide not to block his 20, because he also could have 17. I fill up my hand, while bülent lays 6 red, 6 green, 5 blue (I think about 3 LA-SANFR, but don't do it, I think he would have earlier played them, I decide to play 2+1 Orange on ELP-PHO) and 1 to NASH. I decide to block TO-PI, cause I just have 2 pink and he didn't use 1 of his. He answeres with 3 pink HEL-SLC. Hm, I cannot block the way via LASVEGAS AND SANFR, and having played 5 white and 6 oranges, I have hope, he cannot connect, if I finish early, so me 1 PO-VAN, Bülent 2 LA-LASV, me 3 VAN-CAL, Bülent another 3 orange LASVEAGAS-SLC, me 4+2 blue on grey, he 4 yellow, making his tix LA-MI and DUL-HOU, I must draw, but don't hit. I missed the chance to block LASVEGAS, Bülent wouldn't have had the colours for SANFR, my fault.

121:102

2. CAL-SLC, DEN-PI (BO-MI) my start

I start with 6 orange, Bülent 6 green, me 6 white, Bülent 5+1 pink on grey! A suspicious colour there in my eyes. How to connect those 6ers? OK, I'm short in green, perhaps he has another 4, but I think of a south-biggie. As Bülent most of the time fill his hand I play 6 yellow, while he draws cards, by the way also black and red. I think blocking 6 black or 6 red, for what I have to use 3 or 2 lokos, won't have success, so I block HOU-NO! Bülent 6 red! Hm, perhaps easttix? Although I would be surprised, if he uses 6 pink on grey having easttix, I want to save my DEN-PI and play 2 TO-PI. Bülent 6 black. In the end Bülent connects 5 blue, 2 OKLA-LITTLER, I fear 20+17 a bit, which he can make with his last move, but after 2 NASH-ST.-L, I know, he will only be able to play LA-MI, while I finish my route with 4 green, 6 pink, 3 red DEN-SLC, 4 black SEA-CAL and 4 blue WIN-HEL, winning against LA-MI and TO-MI, he didn't play.

99:118

3. LA-NY, CHI-SF his start

No long story against VAN-MON, CAL-SLC, I try to block 6 white and to draw in the end, but no luck.

128:97

4. LA-CHI, WIN-HOU (DALL-NY)

Funny, as LG asked before the games against Bülent what to take, having the choice between PO-NASH, LA-CHI and WIN-HOU. I would have preferd 17+16, but Felix meant, 16+12 can be nice, and we both said: BUT U NEED 6 BLACK AND 6 GREEN!!!! I start with 6 orange, Bülent 6 red on grey. After 38 cards I just have 2 green on my hand, I take 1 open, Bülent reacts with 6 green. Having just 1 red on my hand, it starts to be a mission impossible. Bülent plays 6 white, 6 yellow, 6 pink, 5 black, me having 9 blue, 1 lying open, I'm sure he has VAN-MON and seems to finish in 8 Sad. I decide to give up 12 and to be honest also this game. I connect my 16, decide not to give him all the 6ers and play 6 blue. Bülent 2 DUL-OMA???? hm, ok, perhaps he is playing for longest, wants to connect 3 MON-TO, 3 CAL-VAN and 1 with his last move SEA-VAN, or he doubts, that I'm able to play 3 red CHI-DUL to connect my 6 orange, that I do not need. I decide to block his VAN-CAL, so he has to play SEA-VAN and 4 to CAL, so its not enough to connect 6 pink for longest too. But he doesn't care about this 1 VAN-SEA???? My hope rises to have a chance. He plays 1 OMA-KAN???? WINNI-LR, SAULT-OKLA? I block KAN-OKLA, Bülent plays TO-PI and I didn't understand this move. I play my last 5 red to finish without understanding, that he has DEN-PI!!! But nevertheless, I lose just against 4 as his 2. tic, tie against 5 and win against all other combis. His 2. IS DEN-ELP! Bad mistake, drawing the open red and play 6 red would have given me the win against all combos, next fault.

104:103

5. DEN-PI, CHI-SF (SEA-LA)

A very nice game. I start with 6 orange, Bülent 6 green and 5 white, me 6 black, Bülent 6 blue. Me 3 red to block SLC-DEN. Bülent 1 blue SEA-PORT. Me 3+1 green not to make it too easy for him to connect, cause I just have 1 yellow. Bülent takes open reds. I have 2 more reds and lokos, but decide not to play 5 red, cause I'm not sure, if I can block successfully without lokos, when he trys to connect via LA. But having 8 pink, perhaps I have a chance later. Bülent plays 5 red, I fill my hand, Bülent 5+1 yellow (upps, not more yellow? The deck must be full of it, so not so much space for pink in the deck). OK, I prepare for longest and decide to risk to go via SANFR down. 3 ELP-PHO, Bülent ELP-SANTAFE, me 3 PHO-ELP, Bülent 2 SANTAFE-DEN. Me 2 TO-PI. Bülent draws 2 open white. OK, my decision is fallen, I play first 5 white, so Bülent has to decide to believe in SANFR-ATL or a needed connection to LA. As he doesn't have yellow anymore, he has to use his pink for that, what makes hin blockable in OMAHA. He decides to block 3 pink! Me 1 orange OMA-KAN. Bülent 4 orange DEN-KAN. HM, 5+4 would be a pity, but he wouldn't play those ways in the west without a tic there. Me 6 pink, cause he just has 4 more cards in his hand and must have the 2 open drawn whites. Me 6 pink. He draws an open loko. I finish with 2+2 more pink OMA-DEN and win without CHI-SF against his KAN-HO and not played PORT-PHO.

82:97

6. SANFR-ATL, NY-ATL (DUL-HOU)

Short story, after 6 orange I had to use 3 of my 4 lokos for black to safe them after 40 cards. Bülent 6 yellow, me 6 green, Bülent 3 blue. I tried to steel as many 6ers I can get in the North, play 6 pink, Bülent 5 black, me 6 red on grey, Bülent 3 SAULT-DUL, me 6 white, Bülent 2 DEN-SF. In the end I connect my 17 and play 5 blue, Bülent says "Nice tix", not knowing I had to find one of those 2 nice tix, try and don't succeed. So in the end no chance against SEA-NY, VAN-SF

129:98

Two games without any chance, 2 good games and 2 games, where I missed my chances. And therefore a deserved win for the better player. Grats Bülent

Carsten

LOL - CF
Mr Bean - wostwuist 3 - 3

She started games 1,3,5

1) 113 - 124
2) 120 - 109
3) 126 - 115
4) 108 - 128
5) 114 - 121
6) 119 - 100

I think I was slightly luckier in a fairly even match, because she drew twice in lost games and could have found a winning ticket.

Thanks for a nice match.

GANG Truckerteller/GANG Hecki vs NG SuperPello/NG LOCA 2-4

214-198
178-181
164-183

214-198
Well played, easy tix to complete, the instinct said to draw fastly new tix and tahe off control to them. As the same we were free to improve our points without pressions. But... they are Trucker & Hecki, better to follow the instinct next time: Hecki completed 25 points from tix and Trucker 24 . It maked the difference.

178-181
Starting double move for us and they happy to play... not the best way to start. 9+7 stupid east tix for me, a bit more points from Loca: second bad news. The only way was a sharply move on 6ers and we did so. Hecki hidden his big nordic combo and completed them but with low score. But the key was the block on my east longest with the final -13 of trucker. Sincerely I dunno what happened but.... happy to have won

164-183
Calg-SLC and SSM-Okl for me (por-nash discarded), LA-Chi and Kan-Hou for Loca (port-phoe discarded) . Not good tix for me but far from Loca's tix. They started with 6 grey (5blue+1) hecki and 6 orange trucker. We replied with 6 yellow me and 6 black Loca. During my improve with 6 white and 4 grey cal-sea , Trucker collected 3+3 grey from LA to ElPa and 4 greens from Denver, Hecky 5 black and 3 blue staying far.
So: we had LA-Chi in hand, por-nas discarded, hecki didn't touched 6 purple... : LA-NY in Trucker's hands was an easy bet. Started the best strategy for TAG: block and building with the same move. 6 purple for me and 3 red from Loca who needed Chicago and for Trucker were problems. After some moves they bet as last chance trying block on my possible long tix seeing 6 yellow, 5 red, 6 purple and was the final defeat. I forgot SSM and put my 4 blue+2 completing my tix and taking so 15+7 , Loca completed LA-Chi and story ended.

NG lead the clash 2-0

Tks for the games and good luck for the next.

Marco

If I'm right, NG earned their spot for the KO round thanks to that win.

The winner of CF/PPB will get the last spot. A tie will favor PPB.

Hmmmm, let us look at this comment: Rule 3.6 In determining overall records for advancing to the knock-out/play-off phase, Clashes won is primary determining factor. In case of a tie, First tiebreaker is clashes won, then matches won, then points won, then TAG result, then AAT result, then US/EU result, then USA result.

Current standings with 1 week to go:
LOL 2-0-1
GANG 2-1-0
NG 1-2-1
PPB 1-1-1
CF 0-2-1

If CF defeats PPB, then PPB, CF, NG are tied and the issue of all 3 go to the tiebreaker. Is status in that tiebreaker not still up in the air depending on score of PPB-CF match? A win by CF of 2.5 to 1.5 sends us down another tiebreaker.

Matches won will solve it.

NG is +/- 0.
If PPB wins or if PPB/CF tie, no issue, clashes won decides.
PPB is currently -1. If they lose, they are minus whatever and certainly behind NG.
CF is currently -3. So they would have to beat PPB 3.5 - 0.5 to tie with NG on matches won. (In that case PPB will be -4 on matches won). In that case the TAG winner would be ranked 3rd, the TAG loser 4th.
As the winner of the other group may choose his opponent this will probably not be important at all (unless Orion winner chooses #2).

NG can start celebrations (well, I assume they already did).

Just curious in this discussion, if PPB/CF clash ends up 2.5-1.5 ( a real possibility), both teams 1-2-1 in clash record. The matches won will = 7 each. so +/- will both be -2 so are they not tied at that point? I agree NG is at 8 so they have that tiebreaker. BUT this clash with PPB-CF is interesting in its determination of 4th play-off team.
If score is not CF 2.5-1.5, discussion is purely interesting academics as the last match resolves it.

Of course correct, Onyx, I was only looking at the comparison to NG.

In case of 2.5 - 1.5 the last tiebreaker is needed between PPB and CF, so the TAG match will be very interesting.

And btw "points won" in the rule is crap and can be omitted, as that's equal to "clashes won", right?

I was wondering if points won meant games won, the other category we keep record of on ticki? If it is not games won, then I have no idea what it means.

Yes, you are right, that is games won!!!
That would be missing in the list of tiebreakers otherwise, and of course that comes before TAG/AAT...
Stupid me Shocked Embarassed
Let's rename that from points to games won to make sure I don't make the same mistake again next year, please Wink
