Is there a maximum number of tavern cards a player can have?
Is there a limit as to how long you can hold onto a tavern card?

I think...NO LIMITS IN ANYCASE !!
We are playing with that rule and there never had problems !

Correct, there is no limit (except for the parrots, that is, and for the mastercraft cards, which you could hoard, but that would be their sole value if you play with the rule of a maximum of one of them per ship, which I recommend).
