Thanks for the announcement.

I'm looking forward to this and will be a very poor man.

Good luck with the release.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I am very pleased that this was my initial guess when I heard the game had nothing to do with Bigfoot. Then other things started coming out to support that. Maybe you CAN believe everything on the internet!!!!

It has something to do with "a" bigfoot though....

"The big foot on the teaser card refers to a Hill Giant promotional miniature that will come in a blister pack along summary cards explaining how the creature works as well as the creatures lair - an illustrated hex with unique terrain effects. This miniature will be shipped to retail stores in Mid October 2006 and will be available in advance of the release of the game"

This SOOOO better not be a randomized collectable game or I am so not buying this game.

If i can collect EVERYTHING for this game within standard game prices then i am 100% in.

I know not alot has been released about this game but please don't tell me this is collectable. Please....

I don't think it's collectable like MtG or similar games - I would be very surprised if days of wonder would start that kind of project - well an I really hope they don't - would be a shame to spoil Battlelore that way Rolling Eyes

good point... I too have vowed to never buy another collectable game. It didn't even cross my mind that this might be one.

Re:WooHoo!!!!!!!! Fri, 08 September 2006 20:34
No one at DoW has used the word "collectible" in describing this game and I seriously doubt you need to be worried about this. While it hasn't been specifically stated at this point, it's likely that the 210 plastic miniatures will be the same in every box, a mix of figures for making up armies to fight with, much like the plastic figures in Memoir '44. The first blister packs have already been announced (the Hill Giant and Earth Elemental) and it seems likely that future releases will be similar, i.e. not random and specifically known contents.

Just to be crystal clear: This is absolutely NOT a collectible miniature game. No randomness in packs or anything of that sort.

Stop it! Richard and Eric and the rest of you, just stop designing and producing these b****y excellent games, will you? I've no space left in the bedroom and Olwen's complaining about the bank balance Sad

I really like Richard's designs, owning both Memoir '44 and Commands and Colors: Ancients and several expansions. I think this will be a great game too. I am happy that it will not be collectible, as having played collectible games for 4 or 5 years, I will not buy any more collectible games.

Re:WooHoo!!!!!!!! Mon, 11 September 2006 18:24
I agree. Expansions with unknown components (e.g. Magic booster packs) are ethically dubious. There is a collectible element to M44, CCA, Battlelore, and in fact any game with expansions, but at least you know precisely what you're getting. Looking at the gaming hobby generally, I think we're getting good value with Richard's games too.

Sorry if I've missed it, but has there been any mention on when it will hit the shops? is it likely to be pre or post Christmas?

Just a few Questions Eric.

You mentioned a "big box", will it be the same size as the normal DoW games or will it be more the size of World of Warcraft and Twilligt Imperium 3rd Edition?

If I pre-order BattleLore online on the DoW Store will I get the Hill-Giant and the Earth Elemental with that order? The reason I ask is that in Copenhagen so far I have had trouble to get the promotional figures.

You talk about monthly blister packs and future expansions. Will it be possible to buy them all in some big set at some date in the future? Since I in general have to order most of the stuff online the shipping could get messy.

Will there be a CON in Copenhagen in not so far away future where I would see a DoW booth and products?

This game system has really made my eyebrows twitch and I can't wait to add it to my collection of games. If anyone in Copenhagen, Denmark, reads this and would like to play any game send an email, mbondtaylor@yahoo.se.

Martin

Games I have:
Pirate's Cove
Shadows over Camelot
Memoir '44 + Terrain + Eastern Front + Winter/Desert
Twilligt Imperium 3rd Edition
War of the Ring + Battles of the Third Age Exp.
Lord of the Rings + Friends and Foes Exp. + Sauron Exp.
Liberte
Age of Mythology
World in Flames Final Edition
World of Warcraft

Re:WooHoo!!!!!!!! Wed, 13 September 2006 15:35
Some answers previously posted...

The big box is the same "footprint" as all of DOW's other games. But it is 50% deeper. So it's like a game and a half but will still stack nicely on your other DOW games.

The Hill Giant will be available when you pre-order the game from DOW. That will be the only online resource (so far) that you can get the Hill Giant.

So far, the Earth Elemental will not be available on DOW's website. But Eric has assured us that we will not have problems getting it - whatever that means.
