Tips & strategies Tue, 05 November 2002 00:37
In light of the upcoming arrival of GoF online, I thought it might be usefull to offer a few playing tips. Here's a start:

1. Three-of-a-kinds tend to throw players, particularly newbies, off balance. Often, other players will be reluctant to play them, so as not to break a full house. So play them, especially if you've got a couple of them lined up.

2. Winning the game doesn't mean taking the hand and keeping it. it just means having the lowest score. Sometimes it is easier to get rid of all but one or two cards than try to go for broke and end up stuck with more cards. Especially later in the game.

3. If your score is high relative to the other players, you might want to point out to the player in second position that it is in his/her interest not to see you keep too many cards, at least until he/she has had a chance to let the player ahead pass him .

4. It is often better to let the player sitting immediately prior to you in the order of play win a hand than to waste a strong card/combination simply to take over.

5. If you know you've got the round one, play your remaining cards in the order that will minimize the number of cards others can play.

There are hundreds more, would love to hear some of your tips (Hadoken & al )

Ah Eric...

Now I know your strategies and have a better chance of winning against you. (At least more frequently than the 1 in 8 times I win now!)

Don't tell me either of you are foolish enough to believe I actually posted any worthwhile tips above Laughing
