Changing targets in Battle Mon, 23 July 2007 22:09
When in a battle with another pirate can I change my target throughout the battle? For example, If I target my opponents sails on my first battle role, can I target their cannons or some other area of the ship besides sails on subsequent roles? Or, once I determine I am going to attack my opponents sails do I have to continue to attack his sails until the battle is over?

Thank you,
Scott

p.s. My family loves this game.

Yes, you may change targets. Each round, you declare the target ship and the target section and they may be different each time. However, the goal is to cripple your opponent so that they flee. Focussing on one section is usually more efficient. However, you may target a ships sails to reduce their turn in combat order (remember, the fastest ship goes first each round -so a recuction of sails in the previous round may couse them to go later) and then attack a weak section of their ship later.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I agree with you it is more efficient to stay with the same attack. The time I have wanted to switch targets was when one of my opponents had a parrot on a target with a high value, so I wanted to take out the parrot and then go for the target with the lowest value.

Thank you again!

Don't forget as Colts fan says, you can also change your opponent each round if you want (assuming there are more than 2 of you on the island)
