| red_zebra wrote on Wed, 19 July 2006 06:53 | Well, Italians did surrender too, and . . . do not want to derail this thread.
I choose to vouch for the Commonwealth in expansion 6, even when I would love more of "France" in the game, only because the case for the French is more difficult:
France 39-40, really France 40, as nothing really happened during the << Drôle de guerre >> : a couple of month of furious and desperate battles, and the Alps defence against the Italians
How many scenarios?
The battle of Sainte-Menehould, the De Gaulle counter attack, the Weygand line defence, something in the Alps, rear guard action at Dunkerque, maybe some action in Narvik. . .
French infantry in french uniforms, similar to WWI
Somua S-35 tanks (leave the Char B to grognards that want special tanks for the elite units. . . like me )
The 75mm gun
Then, the "Forces Françaises Libres" get equipped by the British, and fight with them against Vichy government in Syrie (french equipment) and latter against the Germans and Italians: Bir Hakeim
After operation Torch, the French African troops fought alongside the Allies using the french uniform for the last time
After that, the french forces got american equipment . . .
|
Well...this shouldn't be a problem. DoW only releases 8 scenarios (includes overlord) per expansion. Of course terrain pack only came with 4.

Have seen a post pointing at FFG's latest post on their desert expansion for Tide of Iron, nice little minis - have two mates with ToI so will have to get them playing it a bit again.

Repeating myself: too bad they are not the same scale as M44.
I will wait for the M44 release.
I think Roobarb will be happy (we already have a Spit!)

Shhhhh! Lets get the British first!
Then after some weeks of playing I hope to start something similar in the French forum for expansion 7!

What are the popular contenders for the British tank and gun? I'd like to see the Churchill or Comet/Cromwell and 25lbr myself...

Just to remember one thing : The British expansion or another else expansion will release IF and ONLY Airpack achieves the DoW's selling goal .
If Air Pack fail to do it , I dont think we wont have any more expansions even if DoW has already done a roadmap for M44 family.
Of course, thats my opinion .
Im doing my part for Air Pack success . Today I order my copy in Ebay with a Terrain Pack attached hehe....

Sorry about that, but most of this threat is devoted to "Which tank?"
On the other hand there is no discussion about the 25pdr.
Popular contenders:
Matilda, Churchill, Crusader.
The problem being the British do not have an emblematic tank for the duration of all WW2.

I would love to see a British/Italian set of pieces for the game. Not to mention a set of figures of minor nations (Rumania, Hungary, Poland, France, maybe even some Aussies ) Regardless, the game still rocks already with what we have, But there is always room for improvement .

I lifted this info from my earlier post in this thread.
(Model / years made / # made)
1) Matilda / 38-43 / 2900+
2) Crusader / 39-43 / 5700
3) Cromwell / 42-44 / 3400
4) Valentine / 39-44 / 6800
5) Churchill / 41-45 / 5600
By sheer numbers, the Valentine leads the pack. It also was in service for most of the war AND produced every year of the war except 1945. So, I think I would cast my vote for that model.

No, it's very real. Eric announced it in a podcast and it is supposed to come out in the first half of 2008. Additionally there is an "Equipment" expansion that is supposed to be coming out the second half of 2008 (still not sure what that will entail).

If I remember correctly Roobarb, you don't have any part of Memoir 44. When the Brits do come out, and if you decide to buy into the Memoir system...which you might decide not to if you're looking at Tide of Iron...all the components you'll need will cost you a pretty penny!
I mean, you're looking at needing at least the base game and the British expansion. Plus probably the Terrain Pack to have the desert tiles...plus the Air Pack for the wonderful stuff it provides. I hope you've been saving!

Keep up the good work on M'44, but please just give us a hint on when we can expect this.
