OK, which bright spark chose to have the very light-coloured dice printed with white numerals?
Being really, really picky I could criticise the artist for shading the arena pieces so that there is a "right way round" and a "wrong way" (I'm not talking about the coloured versus plain sides, but the way the shadows only match up on the arena pieces if they are placed in one particular orientation). But that's no real criticism at all.
But the dice gaff Granted, it's not a game-wrecker by any means, but I'd suggest ringing the printing factory to change the colour of the ink if it were my decision.

Wow. Strike two on DOW dice in as many games! Will we see the Colosseum dice replacement program soon? I wonder where they keep getting these dice? Maybe they should change their name to Dice of Wonder!!!!
All tongue in check, of course.

I agree that printing roman numerals in white on light wood was not the best design choice to make.
Apart from the obvious color clash we also disliked the novel Roman numerals. It takes a while to get used to the difference between "IV" and "VI" when trying to read two dice of which one is 'upside down'...

We initially asked for dark wood and white numbers and the samples we had to approve were fine. I discovered the light wood once the game was produced
It is too late to change it. Next game, no dice, we are cursed

But the dice in Colosseum are not standard dice. One face is unusual (1-3).

Oops, I obviously missed that. However, as there is no "I" face {correct?} so, in a pinch, the Roman numeral die could still work, i.e., "I = 1-3".

yes, all US copies have the correct dice. There had to be a benefit to getting the game two months later than Europe, he?

Way to jump on this issue quickly, DOW! I was pleasantly surprised to see the dark numerals on my dice.
Now, if I could just replace the orange stadium (which looks too much like the red stadium) with yellow...
