Via use of the #30 program, I've seen one person get 93 (could have been +/- 1 in either direction). Didn't have many 1st place wins, but did buy the +5 people initially (think he had like 4 of them by game end). Had a 2 emperor medals for some extra customers.
But as I've said in a different thread, you don't try to "fight" the nature of the various asset tokens to make programs work. ("fight" = trying to go against what you initially start out with for asset tokens). Every time you do, you usually lose.

My first 4 player game - the winner hit 99! I wish it were me. Next game though I got 84 with only a medium level show (I believe 27 fans).

I recently hit 101 using the Intense Auctions variant in the new rulebook.
It was a 3p game, finals 101, 90, 81.

Using that variant, I would expect the totals to be higher, since you can maybe obtain more tokens / round than via the normal game.
More so with 3 players than say maybe a 5 player game, where the auction prices MIGHT (note caps) be higher due to the 2 additional people.
Would be interesting to see the scores for each round for a game of "Intense Auctions" variant.

Fwiw, there was a 111 points (scored by the tournament's winner, it turns out) at the World Boardgame Championship last week, using the Intense Auctions variant.

First game, 4p, normal auctions, winner had 84.
Other scores: 80, 77, 60.
Interesting observation: the winner was in last place 3 of the first 4 turns. He had no podiums or season tickets. After the game, he said he purposefully sandbagged to get free resources from the leading player.

Yes that can work..sandbag till the last turn..but also don't forget you are definitely giving up a +5 item to the 1st place person. assuming it doesn't go to the same person for each of the 4 turns, it isn't bad to do. If they all go to the same person, that person does have a definite advantage over the rest of the lot.
So even though it CAN be a good strategy, you have to watch out for the OTHER side of the sword so it doesn't kill you either.

It's only a +3 item, not a +5...
But it also costs a resource token... which the tail-end charlie takes.

Why was i thinking +5...it is +3..duh. Sure it is only 1 resource, but also I've seen games lost due to it, if you let the leader keep getting them. Since that is +12 for 4 resources..sounds fair to me.
And really that resource taken only "hurts" in the normal game. With the auction variant, it is a very minor hurt.

Just having bought the game at GenCon, I ran the game at home with some friends. In our first game, one of the players got 86 (I believe), with second place being in the mid 70s. The other two players, including myself, were left in the dust with scores of less than 50.
The winner was fortunate with resource buying, and invested early with season tickets (unlike the rest of us who bought stadium expansions at first).
The game is definitely worth another play in the future.

We tried the intense auctions variant now for the first time and the winner hit exactly 100 points.
With normal auctions our record is 85 points till now.
