I like the print at kinkos and attach to foamcore. Any advice on adhesive? The times i used spray glue i would get some wet spots showing through. Maybe I just suck at gluing. I figured you must be in design judging by the speed/quality you put the map out. I work in Media Communications as well. What design package do you use? Mostly Adobe(CS3) here.

adobe all the way. anything else is just... well. you can see a small amount of my freelance stuff at my website. http://www.007design.com

i would use spray adhesive. it'll be the easiest way to coat the entire surface. using something else you run the risk of the first bit drying before the last bit has got glue on it. the trick with spray adhesive is to spray it lightly. hold the can a generous distance away while spraying. also, depending on the specific adhesive, you might wait a little bit before applying the map to the board. let it dry just a little bit so it's more tacky than wet.
definitely get 1 or 2 friends to help you with the process. you want one person holding the far edge up off the board and a couple others going slowly along from the other side sticking it down and smoothing it out a little at a time to reduce the chance of bubbles and the amount of times you have to pull it back off and reposition. a yardstick or dowel can help to keep the edge tight as it goes down. the trick is to keep everything nice and taught as it's being stuck to the board.

i can't wait to hear how this works out and maybe see some pics. if it's a success i'll put more time into the design. add some more details and the like.

hmmm Doubtful thanks for the advice oo7 but it sounds like a night mare what i was gonna do was gets some pollywhatsit clear plastic sheet (about 2mm)and trace the hexs out and spray it green turn it over and you have a green hex borad ...ready for flocking Razz ...im think of makeing an over sized board im thinking of useing the extra space for dearation ie the units sit well in the center of a forest hex with the trees around the edges or hills that taper to the orignal hex size Razz

what sounds like a nightmare? making those modular hex pieces or gluing down the print out? yes, making those modular pieces would be a pain at this scale. if i was going to attempt it i would make each 'module' the size of (and thereby consisting of) 7 hexes. gluing down the printout isn't tough, just takes patience.

i don't think i'd want to draw very many hexes by hand onto plastic. however, i do really like the idea of using oversized hexes so you could put some decoration around the edges. i like 3d terrain. it's like painted models. adds so much!

the required table space is getting large and larger.

well, you get some friends together and buy a whole bunch of upholstery fabric.....

didn't aristocrats and such used to have giant chess sets with real people for pieces? or is that just a construct from the movies.

Would it hurt your feelings if someone from the boards could confirm that she can? And well?....

so it worked! tell me, what were your impressions of playing on that board? any criticisms? did you guys use any special rules or victory conditions? also, since you used the heroclix tiles, how did you know where the board sections were (left, middle, right)?

Re:3 Players FFA Thu, 27 September 2007 22:40
ok, I will try to say more, (but you gotta excuse my english Wink)

after one game, I can says that this kind of board is perfect for 3 players.
we decided to mark the sections with hills, but there were too many of them so finally we only put 3 of it for each zone. It wasn't difficult for each player to recognize his zone because it's there are composed of 2 straight lines.

http://gabriel.zeta.free.fr/trucs/battlelore-3-players-heroscape-board-zones.JPG

It was ok, but maybe next time we gonna use points with blue tac to trace better zones.

for this first game, each player composed his army with all the troops-specialists he wanted in his race (one gobo, one dwarf and one human army) (15 units), and put it like he wanted on the two first lines.

war council level 6 + 1 creature for evrybody!

it was wild, I have been attacked by the other two palyers during 2/3 of the game, not because they hate me, humble globlinoid, but because they didn't had a lot of choice with commands cards. maybe next time we gonna use the common deck, like in the epic rules.

we did'nt choose special victory conditions, but maybe next time, we will put an objective in the center of the board, the terrain is big, so it could be fun!

last thing : the heroscape hexas are a little too small, it's not eas yon the hills, but 3D rocks !!
